First post on here. Sorry if the title is annoying/clickbaity. Thought I'd post a story and some photos of an experience that happened a year or so ago, when I was living in the St. Pete area of Florida. Fair warning that I'm no writer or photographer, but hopefully the power of my words and photos combined can make this post worthwhile.
This was a tiny place south of the Skyway bridge, I honestly couldn't tell you where exactly it is if I tried but I always saw it on the highway when I'd drive to another place further south in Arcadia. Really old, broken down looking shed. It's actually right near another place I saw from the highway that also looked abandoned, but it also looked like it might be a long forgotten home still on the market so I left it alone.
Honestly, the shack itself wasn't that interesting. There was a lot of junk inside, probably a dumping grounds
Nothing too interesting. But outside, there was something that I found interesting. By the side of the road, but still beyond the ditch between the road and the bushes surrounding the shack, there were bags of discarded items that seemed to all belong to the same person...the stuff seemed too far from the street to be something that had fallen off someone's car. Plus, he road the shack was on was a residential street so it didn't get that much traffic, and the way the stuff was thrown didn't seem to be at a high speed. Honestly finding junk on the side of the road in rural Florida ain't exactly something to write home about, but it was the objects themselves that made me feel uneasy, because they didn't seem like something someone would throw away. For one thing, almost everything I found seemed fairly new. But much more alarmingly...all of it seemed to be for a young child. I'm sure plenty of toys and children's clothes get thrown out, but it seems strange that someone would intentionally throw all the stuff I found in the garbage instead of donating it to a Goodwill or friends/family.
I found a CVS receipt among the debris dating from October 2017. It was February of 2018 when I visited.
All the clothes were child sized. I know there's probably a reasonable, uninteresting story...but I was definitely freaked out about it and it still is creepy to think about. I genuinely considered calling in a tip, but then I realized I didn't really have anything to report other than a weird feeling and some discarded stuff. I still wonder what happen, my brain's come up with stories anywhere from someone living with their kid in the shack for some period of time out of desperation to someone getting rid of personal effects because they need to get rid of the evidence in case someone finds the bodies. It's probably from watching too much TV. The whole thing did make an otherwise unremarkable trip into something I still think about years later.
