I was wondering if anyone has info on any power plants that are abandoned near or in New York state, if you do it'd be a great help. I do know of one that I need more info on but I don't wanna name drop it.

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature.

There are, but you gotta find em. Google Earth and the internet are your friend. Google "_______ nuclear power plant history" if that's what you're looking for.

And once you find them, please don't give them out to everyone.

The best (and most fun) way is to just go and see what happens.

If the one you're thinking of is the one I'm thinking of, please go and check it out for me. I've heard they welded it up and I don't wanna make that drive for nothin.

Or if any other long island people have been, please message me.

I was over there last week or so, it’s been locked up pretty good. All the doors are either welded, barred up, and/or both. I’m gonna try again soon though. There is always a way in haha.

Wouldn't surprise me. A now-demolished nuclear plant in WI had a military style checkpoint along the main road before you'd get anywhere near it last time I drove by.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

A company called Wackenhut provides security for plants on the east coast. They’re all armed with assault rifles and a pistol. So sounds about right.

Exactly why I didn't name drop it and If people did have the info I'd ask for there a discord or some other messaging app, I'm only used to a few select locations that are relatively easy to access. So me fairing up against armed guards and alarms wouldn't be fun that's why I asked beforehand

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, there are rules and guidelines to follow. I am quite certain you will have much better luck here if you share some pictures instead of just asking for locations, describing locations you have been to, and telling tales of the awesome "restorations" you have done. Just sayin'....

So I just attempted to get in with a friend this time... I'll try to be vague here. It was quite an adventure. We parked in the residential neighborhood and walked over. We saw a truck near the active area, but we decided to wait it out. After the waited it out, we followed a road to the beach. There was barbed wire and the gates were patched up, so no way in. We decided go go to the beach and exit via the residential road instead of the private power plant road and through the woods. We crossed the water, only to discover that the car was parked an hour away. And it was beginning to rain. So we took an Uber for $10 back to the car. We're currently eating pizza at a nearby place and planning to check the other side this week. If we do happen to get in, I'm not giving any details out here so PM me.

Used as a storage area

Actively maintained fence

Water view

Maybe fly a drone around the perimeter and see if there are any easier ways. There's obviously a way as we saw a few weeks ago.

Way to much security afaik. I know it consistently has guys that drive around. I was also talking to a friend and he said there's alarms. I feel like its bs so if anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated if you could confirm it.

Alarms are cheaper than guards... just saying.
Using wireless zoned passive IR sensors and rotating their positions can be very effective tools for guards.

Interesting.

I don't want to hijack this thread or anything, but you bring up something that I was wondering about. I've never seen what you brought up in the above comment for people that have actually made published posts. Is this a glitch in the system or is this something the user can do on purpose - like a setting? This is the first time I think I've seen this "zero post," when obviously someone has posted content on here.
