You ever hear anything on this? Seen nothing in news one way or another.

No my source said he was not in the loop and I have not tried googling it.

In my former career and dealings with fire marshals and arson investigators lack of a current press release can mean a couple different things:

1. its under investigation and they don't talk about it to anyone outside the arson unit

2. it was a hobo trash fire cause and origin so there is nothing news worthy to be reported in the media

Id like to know it was a place we scouted and even tried to get in more than once.

I just did a google search for any new news on the fire and got nothing. Any mention of the fire merely stated that it was, "still under investigation," and even those comments were from the first two or three days.
I spent about five or ten minutes looking.

Looking back, way back, I realize now how much we were like a bunch of predators, watching, scouting, probing. Even picking our or just sneaking way into what the new generation calls bandos. (a lot of our targets were not actually abandoned)

Texas had no idea we were watching!

Or in some cases, we had no idea Texas was watching.

This one was heartbreaking. Dying to get in and checked it out probably a dozen times. Looking in the front doors, you could see old furniture and lots of old timey hotel stuff. Drove by in early July and this is what was left...

I didn't want to start a whole new thread with this, but I'm sad to announce the death of yet another location by fire. Technically, this was no longer "explorable," as it relates to here since the owners had completed all renovations by May or June of this past year. I got lucky and happened to show up just as they were finishing up for the day and I was allowed inside to photograph. Much of the original components remained the same or close to its original form, including the baptismal pool (I'm not sure what it's actually called, but it was still there), lots of original wood, glass, chandeliers, etc. It was gorgeous and it was for sale for a little over US $200,000.00 renovated, commercial or residential. The cause of the fire is not yet (publicly) known.

The church was located in a small central Texas town called Bennett, TX.

The fire originated in a beautiful old home next door to the church. The volunteer fire department almost saved the church until they lost water pressure for 10-15 minutes...
And that was the end of that.

*If I can find my photos of the inside, I'll post them later.
