Now, I am fully aware that many on this site are not fans of the abandoned houses and the empty mansions, but I ask that you stick with me on this one.....

This is an abandoned mansion with a hidden time capsule apartment, one that I am calling the Twilight Zone Mansion, as you will see why below

I can honestly say that I have never experienced an abandoned house such as this one!!!

Not only was it a pain in the ass to get to, not only was it full of decay, not only were the walls coated in deadly black mould (yes I wore my respirator), AND not only did it contain a secret hidden fully in tact time capsule apartment within the mansion....but there was also a large Turkey Vulture trapped inside the house, with very sharp tallons and he could have came at me at any point during my explore!

So picture this to set the scene

You are in a large abandoned mansion, decay is everywhere, you are possibly being stalked by a turkey vulture who is stuck in the house.

There is a person on the property right next door and you have no idea if this is also his property.

You enter the garage and there is an SUV parked inside, however you are relieved to find the tires are flat and plates are from 2015

The mansion is empty, but the decay is amazing, you figure the rest of the house is this way.

You then find a door and outside of that door are a pair of sandals looking as if someone has just come home....

Open the door and you find this......

So, lets back up and start at the beginning:

Given the location and surroundings it was wise to park far off site and walk in to avoid being spotted by neighbours, as we know, pulling right in and parking on site is never a good idea!

As I was approaching from the back of the house, I immediately spotted some kind of an animal inside the house making a ruckus and trying to get out through a window. As i got closer I realized that it is a Turkey Vulture, so this is just great...now I have to try and avoid this thing and getting attacked by it!

It was beautiful inside with a stone fireplace, an iron spiral staircase and numerous hallways in many directions. The floor to ceiling windows provided a great deal of natural light inside.

Time has done a number inside as there is a great deal of natural decay on the walls and ceiling and given its location there was zero vandalism

As I continued through the house two things happened

1) I had a run in with the turkey vulture and came up with plan to keep myself safe from him and then I devised a plan to let him escape

2) I found a door in one spot in the home that had a pair of shoes kicked off at the door, nervously I opened this door and walked into a fully in tact time capsule apartment that had been ENTIRELY consumed by black mould.

Inside this apartment, black mould coated every wall, yet every last item was still in place. Upstairs where the bedrooms were, the doors were closed, sealing them off from the impending black death.

Death by black mold... I hate that shit.
That whole house is worthless now.
Incredibly wasteful.

Wow. That is cool. So strange the time capsule. And so disgusting, the mold. I would have cracked open an asahi for sure.

And some windows. Heavy mold contamination is one of the few things I wear a respirator for.

Wow, what a bizarre and intriguing place...definitely a twilight zone-ey house. I think vultures are probably the animal I most commonly run into on explores.
Thanks for the walkthrough, the right mix of creepy, sad, gross, but still pretty awesome!

I can't take credit for the discovery of the house, it was RiddimRyder and his GF who found it, however they didn't find the time capsule part so I WILL take the credit there LOL

Thank you

One of your best to date! The video really shows the extent of the damage and the horrible mold from the flooded basement. Apparently the roof is in really sad shape too. Many of the ceilings are rotten and starting to cave. Would love to know the story here. It just looks strange. Did the people just rent a part of the Mansion or stay as caretakers!?! But had to leave as the mold kept getting worse. Alot of questions here. Thanks For your work! Enjoyed the tour.

Insane they just the place! probably overnight financial collapse on their part? It sucks that such a nice place (minus the green carpets) was just left there. It'd be cheaper to just build over it now :/

All the modern things left behind really give off an eerie feeling. It's all almost nice enough and new enough that it looks like people are still living there, a cool change from the typical deterioration.

As the family living there were Far Eastern origin (not sure exactly where, there's some Japanese beer in the Fridge, I can't see enough text on the book covers to work out if it's Chinese or Japanese), maybe they had to return home quickly and only took the bare minimum of stuff with them.

The picture of you in the bathtub made me laugh!
A lovely house, the fact that the (I am assuming) girl's desk and other rooms were completely in tact and untouched like that is, both beautiful and heartbreaking. I have heard of people having to leave for home and then just never bothering to come back before, I remember reading on Reddit a few stories like that, perhaps that is what happened? Incredible find.

Given that all the text is in traditional Chinese [implying Hongkonger or Taiwanese (the geographical affiliation, not necessarily the ethnic affiliation)], and there's a can of Li Shan tea (a Taiwanese delicacy) in the fridge (a wrong-headed attempt at preserving a valued tea), I would put my money on a family from Taiwan.

I have the same cat mask hanging in my apartment, and I was led to believe it was Japanese. Then again, I am not remotely Japanese.

If it still matters, I could ask someone about the books.
