Ya know, climbing pipes is actually pretty easy.

I'm surprised more people didn't get the florida man joke. The fact that SewerRat is a florida man himself just makes it that much better.

Easy for SewerRat maybe, after all, he is a Florida Man. He's capable of things far beyond our mere mortal imaginations..

Inside the building, cops never see it!!!

The last time I attempted this, I drove right into a warehouse only to see a cop car sitting in there already. I thought it would be too weird for it to be occupied, so I parked, got out, and walked up to the car and a cop opens the driver's side door! I wasn't sure how to proceed, and since I was in the middle of BFE Mississippi, I said;
"Oh, sorry to bother you, I didn't think you were in there, but I was just looking for a place to go to the bathroom and wanted to make sure the car was empty."
I promptly felt like a moron at that point, but he clearly had no interest in me at any point of our short interaction.
He actually looked more awkward than I did - I think he might have been sleeping on duty, lol.

However, I can attest to this usually being a great option - when the parking is available!

Haha, love this story always a surprise to run into cops and or cop cars inside a building Ive had it happen more than once. The old foundry in Marshall Texas for example, LEO drove right in and parked, got a pic of him too! Then got lectured on how dangerous the place was.

Now something I've always considered is bringing my mountain back in the back of my truck or car and parking a decent distance away from the location, and then take the bike as far as I deem it safe to bring. (And of course, bike locks too.) Seems like it'd be a lot more quiet, concealable, and versatile in areas you'd think twice before taking a car down due to thin roads or it just needing to be out of sight.

This is something iv considered as well. Now that I put a little hitch on my car I think a little bike holder and mountain bike could be a great little setup. Thank you!!

not really afraid of cops... it's brainless, insane and possible meth'd up rednecks who feel they are the law.

with a cop, you can sort of kind of reason with them... usually just by telling them the truth and showing them your copious photos. Redneck hillbillies don't give a shit and will beat the shit out of just as soon as look at you.

just something to consider.

This is very accurate, I would rather deal with a cop any day compared to some of the characters I have seen on the streets around here.

I'm sure being a Florida man will make all my stories even better. Hopefully I don't have any news stories involving me doing anything to typical but hey you never know. I gotta keep you guys and gals entertained.

We'd love to hear some... you should make a thread for it!

Cops are a welcome interaction after trying to extract oneself from a conversation with a random meth head. So much normal.

That said, I park nearby - nearby being relative to the situation at hand. So, maybe I park out front, or at the gate, or drive in, or hike 7 miles. It’s all relative to the place being visited. Sometimes on the street in front is less odd than tucked in and hidden. Sometimes Uber is better. Sometimes I don’t care and just stop the car, get out to shoot the photos, wave at the cop watching me, and leave. Brainstorm options and then assess whatever is actually there on arrival. Adjust as needed. It’s like math; have ideas for the variables and then put them into the formula. Record results. Learn from recorded results.

See what you did? Now I have to go buy a bike, because that is just too awesome to not do.

(I like Apollo's mountain bike idea too)

I'll usually park in front of a local restaurant or shop as long as it's within a decent distance. I don't mind an extra 5-10 minute walk if it means a decreased likelihood of getting caught. Sometime's there won't be any other options and you'll be forced to park on the side of the road somewhere, but even in that case, I'll still try to stay a good couple of minutes away from the entrance.
