We recently took two friends to this Chemical Plant. The spot exceeded our expectations quite a lot. Many of the buildings were still supplied with power and the overall atmosphere was something to be desired...

Now for a little background...from the clues left behind in the buildings we were able to discover the facility was working on new water treatment methods, or at least that was the final project worked on. The place closed somewhere around 2012, judging by the last verification date on fire extinguishers, which there were a lot of.

I went for more of a warm color scheme with my shots, though a cool scheme looked amazing. Enjoy!

The locker rooms were infested with spiders...

These labs were fully powered! Almost everything worked!

I had a lot of fun shooting the exterior

Good set
Looks like maybe a pilot plant of some kind.

Really great pictures. I still haven’t been to a plant like this, but I really want to. I love number 17.

We're gonna get there. We don't need a whereabouts.

Shots could be squared better but otherwise looks like a fun explore. The warm color enhances the grunge.

Great set! I know this exact place, I explored it with some other UER members a few months back. I'm surprised you guys didn't reach the control room- it has a massive green control board covered in lights and buttons, it's pretty cool.

Just a minor thing of note though- this wasn't a chemical plant, it was originally a chemical waste incinerator/disposal facility, with the sections you posted being used to blend chemical for disposal. The incinerator building itself is long gone, but this stuff remains. It shut down in the early 1990's after the incinerator exploded when a manager swapped the labels on some barrels, causing explosive chemical waste to be incinerated with predictable results.

The power was still on in certain buildings and the fire extinguishers were probably kept up to date for insurance purposes- I've been to several locations where they maintain the fire extinguishers even as the building is collapsing around them so they can claim they are complying with fire safety standards.

Pretty cool... control room *drool*
In shot #13 at the bottom of the pic, are those reactor and/or mixing vessels? Do you know what their purpose was?
What they incinerated?

Not sure, but I assume that those are smaller storage or blending tanks like the others. The tall narrow ones might be the mixing tanks, as they have a rotating blade in the bottom to stir them- but I don't know if the blade was to mix them or just prevent them from settling.

As for what they incinerated, my impression is that they incinerated any kind of chemical waste that could safely be disposed of by burning, though I don't know what kind specifically.

Anyway, here's the control panel!

Incredible location & shots, thanks for posting this! Especially love shots 16 and 18. It's so strange to see a place like this, with parts of the walls literally falling off like in 7, but still entirely illuminated. Abandoned yet operational at the same time, that's a really cool location to find

Thanks for the info, some really interesting stuff! We'll definitely have to go back and see the buildings we missed, especially that control room... We had to leave a little early to catch the right lighting for some rooftopping right afterward. Thanks again!
