This place has been on my radar for several months now...but it seemed too difficult. However, on my way back home from another explore (well, a scouting mission; infiltration next weekend, I hope) I realized this location was on the way. Well...what am I gonna do? NOT attempt it?!
Upon arriving and doing what we do...I was rewarded with a pretty decent explore. Lots of stuff laying around, and while there was destruction, there was almost no graffiti!
It seems this building was built in the 20's, and while the first floor was wooden-very treacherous and collapsing in places-it appears other parts of the building were added to later. (I know enough not to trust anything even if it is concrete, but I felt marginally safer on the more modern flooring upstairs!)
Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy!

5. Even without the seating, I liked this auditorium...but didn't quite dare to go beyond the threshold.

6. Kinda funny, considering this is the entrance to the bathroom...

17. I usually don't move things, but the trees were on the floor; I decided to make this shot...don't really have a clever caption though.

18. An untouched Zenith behemoth. In my elementary school, they just wheeled in a TV cart.

21. This looked like a science/chem lab.

22. Holy crap, I found the motherload! Flush with liquid assets! This play money (along with fake coins) was scattered all over this room.

26. This...this made me laugh. At least the guy used the chalkboard...Bart Simpson would be proud.

28. Overhead projectors, I remember these! I guess nowadays they're more an obsolete relic.

29. This room was a mess; much worse than any of the other rooms. At least the wet floor held down the asbestos particles. (And I'm glad I had my mask)

Cool set! Looks like fun....

These are awesome. I don't know why but abandoned schools are always my favorite, just something really creepy but so cool about them. Any information on when it closed? Some stuff looks pretty recent/clean but by the structure and peeling you can tell that's not the case.

Thank you! It was definitely a fun place to check out; it might even be worth a revisit.
Did a bit more research; I was a bit rushed in my original writeup...this school was built in the mid 20s, in Colonial Revival style architecture, and was used up until about 1967. Around this time (from what little I've found) it was partially renovated, but only the first floor was used for elementary students from the late 60s until the building was completely closed in 2006.
It stands to reason that the upper floor was used for middle school/junior high school students in later years, given the lockers and the contents of the classrooms (like the chem lab).
So it's been abandoned 13 years, going through the standard bureaucratic shuffle of 'renovate or demo'. My understanding is there's a gymnasium, but the roof had collapsed; I was willing to check it out, but as you see in pic 41, the floor got alot more questionable in that wing, so I decided not to press my luck. As far as the school 'splores I've done so far, this ranks as one of my favorites.

That place looks awesome! I like the look of schools to begin with, but having stuff left is a great added bonus. Too bad a bunch of the windows were boarded, I bet natural light would look cool in there.
