I'm new to the UER community, but I've seen some real talent with all of the photography on here. Plus, everyone seems super supportive of each other. It's so sweet to see.
I thought I'd start a thread where we can post the pictures we're most proud of, and just give a little bit of support all around!

1.

This will probably forever be my favorite shot. The colors in that room felt so vivid for an abandoned building.

Recently came across your DB post on HF6 - "Hot, Sweaty, and Filthy". Incredible shots. What a day that must have been!!!

Glad to see you checking out the other forums, I figured I'd stop by here and show off some of my favorites...I have about 6000 pics on my computer in my exploring file (which I named 'Abandonment Issues' so it was hard to narrow it down...but here we go!

1. This is an old chapel from my first true explore at a defunct amusement park that my family used to go to when it was active. At 13, I was married (til sundown) to one of the park's character actresses.

2. The old waterslide and duck boat pond, with one lonely boat out there.

3. An Olympic sized pool and the grandstand at an abandoned park...not much is left here, but it's a cool place to check out.

4. Another park...unfortunately, I was caught by security ten minutes after taking this shot, and didn't see much of the place. At least the guy was cool about it, and just asked me to leave.

5. Some machinery at an old textile mill.

6. A loom (I think) at the same mill.

7. My first hospital, now demolished...I'm in the maternity/nursery area here.

8. Kind of a grainy shot, but that same hospital.

9. I was in an old school here...

10. And here; the vine and the peely paint made for a good shot.

11. I think this place was an old factory outlet store.

12. Grainy and off center, but this window was pretty sweet looking!

13. The boilers in an old nursing care facility.

14. And upstairs...dig that old wallpaper!

15. My favoritest asylum explore! Sunrise coming into the pink room.

16. Same place...the door to a 'quiet room'.

17. More sunlight (in a holey staircase).

18. Sweet decay...

19. Some more of the patient rooms.

20. This was another cool hospital, lots to see here.

21. Either the chapel, or the kitchen...

22. And yet another asylum...

23. With patient rooms.

24. This colorful area was in another mill I explored last summer.

25. Took awhile, but I found the HUGE boiler.

26. My first morgue! This particular explore was probably my favorite (or at least in the top 3).

27. Weird cave structure at an old fun park.

28. And a waterwheel.

29. This was taken at a rather large school, it was a neat explore.

30. Who doesn't love an old gym with a warped floor?

31.
My bonus shot; I've explored this location 4 times, and the long drive was worth it each time. While I couldn't get in to this church, it is a major highlight of this nearly dead town. I was happy to have a foggy (and rather crappy) day to get this shot just right...even kinda hides my rather amateurish photography skills! ;)

I hope you enjoy these, good luck, and happy exploring!

Someone said something about warped gym floors on one of my posts and I didn't know what that meant, I'm still a little confused, could someone explain?

Something to do with changing temperature and humidity I think, I don't understand it that well. Wood floors tend to warp over time, they can separate or push together and raise each other, like tectonic plates.

Damp and humidity causes the wood to expand, which in the case of slat or parquet flooring like often found in gyms where there is nowhere for the floor to expand to at the edge of the room results in the pressure forcing large parts of it upwards where it either sits as a smooth hill or breaks apart.

That makes sense...in this situation, part of the school had been a victim of fire. While it looked like this gym came out ok, much of the hallways behind me were damaged. That floor was probably sprayed/flooded pretty good due to the fire hoses.

Last I looked into this town, a couple years ago, this was an active church despite being on the edge of a basically leveled town. I read because of the huge amount looky-lous in town, they are not kind to people roaming the grounds. It apparently has a past of of being assumed abandoned because of the condition of the town, and broken into several times. Pretty sad - you don't see many active churches with a "NO TRESPASSING" sign out front...

Hope you checked out the 2 cemeteries on the south side of town while you were there!

I think you're right...I've never seen any activity there, but I have heard it's in use; they have plenty of 'no trespassing' and 'cameras in use' signs around...the most I've ever done is take some pics from the top of the stairs.
I've been all over that area; I love those cemeteries you're talking about; lots of history there.

I have lots of them but this one really stands out. It was the closest
I've ever come to being caught when the owners showed up and came inside
while I was inside. For over an hour it was being quiet and staying ahead of them...
