i see a lot of people on here who tend to seek out a certain kind of place or just like certain ones. or it could be least favorite too. i really like factory's and
1920's schools.

We're gonna get there. We don't need a whereabouts.

Industry industry industry! I have shared a lot of houses here, but only because they are plentiful around here, not because of preference.

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature.

I love exploring everything bigger than a normal house: mansions (also villages if the whole area is abandoned), industrial buildings and schools. I tried exploring drains but that was a bad time because of our bad equipment and haven't bothered since.

Industry, love em some industry.

Larger sites with some unique quality to them as well, for instance if it's impressive architecturally.

Industry.

Vehicle Graveyards.

Churches.

In that order - everything else comes afterwards.

Industry, especially anything war-related. Mental hospitals/asylums are a close second. I love the expanse and all, but my favorite part about those is the history behind them.

Hospitals. Then industry. Then schools. Then any other thing that is not in use 😀

Old government buildings and abandoned camps are always interesting! Easy to find as well, not too much industry near me but from the replies it looks like I should be looking harder!

I forgot to mention that prisons and correctional facilities are also great places to explore. Every place with unfamiliar/uncommon architecture is always good for me.

This is why I don't really get the excitement to explore abandoned schools: Everyone has been to school sometime in their life, everybody knows the typical layout of a school so I'd like to know what it is that people find so exciting about abandoned schools?

I will admit that solely focusing on schools would likely get boring, but I think that they can make for a good explore if seen in moderation.

One of the nice things about schools (at least in my experiences) is that a lot of them tend to have a ton of stuff left behind. So for anyone who likes to piece together a bit of the story/history behind the place, that can be a lot of fun.

Also what you said about exploring areas that are normally off limits still holds true for schools, just to a lesser extent. You don't always get the chance to walk through the steam tunnels or visit the roof of an active school, and even if you have, these areas normally reserved solely for maintenance can vary quite a lot between schools. Additionally administration areas sometimes contain some interesting finds. I once found a large vault that contained documents and other things dating all the way back to the beginning of the school.

Lastly some rooms common to schools such as gymnasiums and auditoriums can pretty consistently make for some really good shots in their state of abandonment.

Thanks for your interesting answer to my question, it is true that schools can contain lots of old books and historical stuff!

#1/2 Industry and mental hospitals, depends on my mood.
#3 Jails

I don't have many places at all near me, especially jails or industrial places but these are the places that I try to do more.
