There are plenty of abandoned gas stations around the highways in Northern Arizona, but this one made me pull over due to its classic name. Considering Standard Oil was forcibly shut down in 1911, its pretty impressive this sign still remains. There were no gas pumps remaining, and all that was left of the station itself is some concrete walls covered in graffiti.

Did you take any shots of the sheep mural?

That whole stretch is great for catching Chip Thomas' Painted Desert Project wheat pastes murals.

God, those are great. I have a roll of sprocket shots but I haven’t done anything with it yet. Is that a flatbed scanner that you own/used?? If so, how much did it cost you?? I would take it to my lab but I think most lab equipment can’t scan the sprockets like that.
