I want to start planing a trip to Detroit in June, but i have heard that a lot of the buildings are being secured and that there is a larger police presence. Is there still enough, or is it not worth the trip?

I was there twice this year. There are plenty of places to explore, and I would say its worth it. I would recommend you go with a few people as many of the neighborhoods are dangerous (its Detroit, I guess I'm being captain obvious).

Take nothing but Nazi VHS tapes, leave nothing but footprints, drink nothing but Dos Equis. Stay thirsty my friends.

I was there at the end of October and still found plenty of places. More locations are being secured but it's still easier to find locations there than almost anywhere else.

It's recommended to not explore at night, and you should travel with a group. You might have to accept you might not get into Packard. They are actively working on it, and have 24/7 security that is very vigilant, also tours there once a day during the weekends.

You can see some updates on their instagram of the repairs. They're currently working on the administration building. I was there a few days ago and there are still good spots. Just don't get caught up on all of the abandoned houses and completely gutted factories. While they are still abandoned, they can distract you from the goos stuff. Go for a few days so you can see lots. Also know that just because something is huge doesn't mean it's good. Don't waste your time if you have high standards. Anything that is really good will be really secure. Copper thiefs and scrappers will gut a building even just a few days after it closes. It also helps to go with a local person so you can know where and where not to go. On a -10 degree day you won't find many homeless people but you still never know. I checked out Packard last year. Talked to a security guard outside and she seemed nice. You'll need to find a good time and spot to enter though, because they do have it well secured. You're pretty close so you could go out for a few weekends in a row if you need to.
Be sure to get lots of pictures

i don't really plan on going to any abandoned homes. i guess i don't know where to look for the good stuff. i live 3 hours from there. i was thinking about maybe asking someone on here to go, but i'm not sure how many responses id get. i think ill skip out on the Packard plant considering the security and how gutted it is.
