Dreams that seem too real to be just dreams...getting that inexplicable bone chilling cold as you dive deeper into a location...the feeling of being watched...I think these are all symptoms of paranoia. But then again, for those who are receptive to the energy that exists within life, or those who unfortunately witnessed things they weren't meant to see, I think it's absolutely possible that ghosts exist - or more accurately fragments of lost souls. I can't say for sure that what I've felt on a few occasions is the presence of one of these spirits and not just my fear manifesting into the worst case scenario, but I've definitely had my moments...But then again, I've solo explored countless locations that should have had the presence of something, but even then I felt relatively calm. My favorite example is a cathedral in Venice, built over 300 years ago. Up the side, around the roof, in the dome, in the attic and through some passages all the while a thunderstorm passed overhead...still - nothing.

I was once with a couple buddies of mine at an old building. We were chilling outside and waiting for the snow to begin so we could take some nice pictures. Tucked around a corner so that nobody could directly see us, we heard a loud clatter, as if a large piece of metal had been dropped from a story or so up, and all of us bolted. One of my friends was pretty familiar to the area, and knew where to go to get off of the property, yet we were still on a nice adrenaline rush. After ten-fifteen minutes of seeing or hearing nobody outside (or inside for that matter, no cars or trucks either), we decided to go back. It was only as we were leaving that we came upon a huge pile of milk crates that had quite clearly fallen over. It was quite strange to us because there was absolutely no wind, and the crates were made to be stacked and locked into each other. We laughed at our "ghost" and dismissed it. It just goes to show that it really depends what mentality you bring to the exploration.
