These were all taken in 2016 and I just got around to editing them tonight.

This 4 room schoolhouse was built in 1924 and serviced the north side of town. My mother and most of her 7 siblings all went to school here. It was in use by the town as a functioning school into the 1980s and was later a daycare and then a private Christian school from 1999 to 2002 before relocating. Vacant until work started this summer to renovate the structure. The owner has yet to reveal plans of what the building will be reused for. I had been trying to get in here for years but neighbors and an alarm system prevented access for a long time.

A splendidly preserved and unusual site.
Those strange wood cabinets are wild.
&
A classroom of solid squared off keepers
Approximately what circa for the woodwork?

It's either original or from the early 1930s. I knew someone in town that went to school here starting in 1939 and she said she remembered the woodwork being there when she went. I know the town has photos of the inside but most of the records and photos are kept in peoples attics so it's hard to track down a lot of the stuff.

I'm no expert lol, but it looks like it predates the 30's. Was it built in the 30's?
Way cool how intact it is.

It was built in 1924, I'd think the woodwork is most likely original. It's the same style in all four rooms too. I really hope whatever it becomes that woodwork will remain

Glad you were finally able to get in...this is a gorgeous place! I don't know a whole lot about architecture and whatnot, but it surely predates the Art Deco style of the 30s (and of course you've said it was built in '24). The woodwork and pastel paint job is pretty sweet; love the numbers above the closets. Thanks for sharing, these are great pics!

I'm really good at never taking pictures of things I should. I literally lived the first 20 something years of my life half of a mile from here. I think these are my only exterior shots, all from about 10 years ago.

The first three are in infrared. But totally not Art Deco style, typical coastal new england stuff here, basically this is just a variation of colonial revival. This area of Massachusetts still builds in the colonial style today. Even police stations and modern town halls end up being either colonial or very similar. Just glad brutalism style stayed about 18 miles north in Boston haha. You ever seen Boston City Hall? Worst building in the world.
