6,000 to 10,000 churches die each year in America

America's epidemic. Our playground:

https://www.theatl...-buildings/576592/

I personally don't mourn the decline of religion in America. I know that there is a world of religious zealots out there who want to kill us, but I don't think the way to fight zealotry is with more zealotry. Let truth, science and freedom of thought prevail.

Your intolerance is alright, but not the intolerance of these so called "religious zealots"? Personally, I haven't experienced any religious zealots trying to kill me. What does religion have to do with UER anyway?

Not so sure if it's a large decline in organized religion or regional shifts in demographics.
No parishioners, no church; they may have simply moved and join a local church.

Attendance is down across the board.

There's a tendency toward smaller families and DINK marriages. Supposedly there are more senior citizens than children in the US.

Seriously, how often are there memorably moments in church?

Which one of those groups attempted to kill me? Unless I'm missing something... Jim Jones killed himself before I was born anyway. You are all just trying to spread the fear narrative. Settle down and stop drinking the Kool Aid lol.

Most religious zealots are happy to rob you blind and leave you grateful for the opportunity to give up your life fortune.

Other than this might lead to church closures, there's not much need to argue religion on UER.

Indeed, religious ideology arguments seem a little too close to something that would belong in the Politics board, and we all know how that turned out...

At least around where I live I think it has to do with there being more options and some of those options are the big mega churches that people aren't put off to travel a ways to get to. Back in the day every neighborhood had it's own church and perhaps multiple ones if different denominations were represented. Now, fast forward to the present, you get one mega church that has a congregation numbering in the thousands added to the general decline in overall church attendance is hurting a lot of these smaller neighborhood churches that are closing or combining with other shrinking congregations.

I thought our new religion was the Internet, social media, Amazon, BestBuy, Iphones etc, put your faith in all of that !

You experts should actually read about the real "Zealots" or Sicarii, a group of Hebrew guerilla fighters pre destruction of Jerusalem (70AD) that ambushed and killed lots of Romans and finally helped drive them out of Judea, at least made their occupation there more difficult. In the end look what happened to Rome!

We already discussed the cult moron/psychopathic/suicide groups, theyre not coming for any of you non-believers and are content to kill themselves, I still contend its Darwin's theory at work if not God's actual plan.

Ever heard the saying you can put whipped cream on a turd but its still a turd?
Lots of people call themselves Christians. Much like UER where lots of people call themselves explorers. But are they?

The politics and religion board was a good idea at one time but it was taken over with personal attacks and became a completely emotional, logic free zone for name calling and sniveling about blackhawk.

In before the lock down!

I would never argue with a theological expert which Im sure you are but sitting in church does not make you a Christian nor religious anymore than sitting in a garage makes you a car.

Demographics, city dwellers, as Turd Ferguson accurately pointed out, mega worship churches siphoning congregants away from smaller churches I know "religious people" that never set foot inside a church. Lots of smaller rural churches could not keep up with routine maintenance for lack of funding and fell into disrepair, when the roof goes well you know the rest so go explore one.
