I found this lonesome old house rotting away in the woods a couple of miles from an abandoned nursing home I had been exploring in the area. While I didn't include it in that explore, I took note of a VERY abandoned looking structure nearby, while using my phone's GPS to help me find the care facility; which was also a bit of a hike into the woods.
Returning to the area a couple months later, I was rewarded (after trudging back and forth a few times, this was a tricky place to locate at first) with this small one story house.
It seems to have suffered almost no vandalism, the front porch had collapsed, and the floor on the screened in back porch and in the master bedroom were badly rotted; though the flooring throughout was mostly stable. It wasn't hard to imagine a mom, a dad, a boy, and a girl, all living in this little out of the way place, once upon a time.
While I enjoyed this explore, I did end up falling through the floor in the master bedroom...stupid mistake; I was more concerned with getting a shot than paying attention to what I'd already been aware was a danger zone. Fortunately, I escaped severe injury (a couple scrapes, and partially bruised ego), and it only took me three tries to get myself back up on the joists and out of the room...it was like an Abbott and Costello bit...
Anyway, enjoy these pics!

Thank you! I thought upon arriving that it might not be much more than just another rotting house full of trash and tags; but it had alot of character (you know, for an abandoned and mostly forgotten place).
Behind the front door was a calendar turned to Feb. 2000, I can only assume that was around the time it was vacated...almost 19 years and it's held up ok, barring a tree falling on it or somebody tearing/burning it down, I'd say it might last another decade or two but that's just a guess (and probably not a very good one).

It's almost creepy how there are a couple pieces of clothing still hanging in the closet. Really cool find.
