I'm not sure how the name about. Reduxzero perhaps.

Certainly an amusing title for a drain. It’s far easier simply to call it *redacted for location* when making talk of it in a public place. It was the first drain myself (Nonobservance) and Goose has visited. It was visited one cold night in the middle of winter, and warily and anxiously (at least, myself, can’t speak for Goose) we crept down to the Outfall. A quiet trickle could be heard beneath the large ice plug that had frozen the dangly black flaps into a barely passable position. We clambered out onto the edge and squeezed our way inside, cursing silently as we somehow got rusty red mud on our boots even when the temperatures were well into the negatives. Once inside the entrance we stood on a floor of ice, the water slowly running beneath. Any mere movement caused a cascading echo down the pipe that extended into the darkness, and I figured for sure that somehow, someone would hear it and immediately dial the proper authorities: “Come quick! There are HOOLIGANS infiltrating the underground!” I could just imagine it. Goose took off at a run into the pipe, heedless of the echo, doubtless figuring it would be better to get it over with and get in far enough that no sound would escape.

We made our way in, passing a small pool created by a dam, we passed several manholes leading to the surface, then we passed a larger dam. Then we came to a rectangular room with a pipe leading to the east, then north, which doubtless lead to the filtration area that keeps the outfall water clean under low flow conditions.

We kept on, the main trunk running at a slight incline, passing manhole after manhole. Eventually we came to a room featuring a large sloped pipe that indicated the direction: Downtown.

We didn’t venture down it though, we figured it would be best to continue up the main trunk. Still, we talked and walked and wondered what might await us Downtown as we ran up the pipe further. Eventually we heard a roaring noise in the distance and I briefly wondered if it was our end…A monstrous wave of storm-sewer water eagerly approaching to drown us. Then I remembered it was the middle of winter and that was just silly. As we got closer, we spied the source of the noise in the distance.

A simple green pipe in the floor…suspected to be the bypass that takes water to the filtration area. We stepped around it with ease and continued our trek.

The next part was fairly boring. Nothing of interest or note for some while.

Finally, more roaring. Hopefully more exciting than a boring ass green pipe.

It was, we came to a branch to the left which lead to a small waterfall that was perhaps 15-25 feet high, and still straight forward the concrete pipe turned into a large CMP (Corrugated Metal Pipe), a diameter of which I can’t remember. It smelled worse than the rest of the drain and so we opted to avoid it and ended the trip here.

That’s all for this entry.

From the immediate post documentation: “First time draining, went to outfall near *redacted*
went as far as drain within the drain on the left branch
Nonobservance hit his head on an icicle on the way in, and again on the way back out, was great amusement”

Fuckin’ icicles.

“Come quick! There are HOOLIGANS infiltrating the underground!” That gave me a good laugh! Very similar to my thoughts when first getting inside somewhere, I wonder will I ever get over that?

Nice write up! Looked like a good first time drain experience! I have yet to do my own drain adventure so I enjoy all the write ups. That definitely is an amusing name for a drain! I did a double take while skimming though the forums lol

It sounds classier if you pronounce it "tray-passing"
