Mmmmmmm vintage calendars.
I bet we could do a whole calendar thread.

I've got a real thing for old calendars, love finding them.

Crappy pics, I know.... I didn't dig through the pile much, as it filled half the garage and was taller than me. But this one was laying on the floor next to the heap.

The attic of this house was littered with cancelled checks. The names on them directed me to a neat story and history of the folks who lived there.

I swear there used to be a photo thread where people scanned in photos they found in abandoned places. I could no longer find it.

I scanned a roll I found recently under rubbish in a basement.

That's super cool.... What's hard about the abandoned photos/film, is not being able to know the story behind them....

So I found a handful of old photos in this abandoned house that I went in to. The property had changed hands a few times since it was last lived in, before it was bought and scheduled for destruction. Ended up tracking down the family that used to lived there and gave these back to them, but not before I scanned them. I've been using photos like this to make some interesting collages and edits, so these were a lot of fun. Hope you guys enjoy!

Edit: (jk the quick gallery creator is giving me trouble. Stand by for news)

Old death claim form from the 50s:

Old prison barber shop log book:

Inside of the prison barber shop log book....lots of repetition detailing their shifts. On other pages it goes into extreme detail of the shift changes saying things like: "on _______ day at ____ time I received 1 flash light from Officer ______ with _____ batteries..." etc. It's really interesting.

Not a piece of ephemera found at a location, but I cataloged this at work today and thought you folks would be interested to see it. It's an official, contemporary printing of the proclamation establishing the State Lunatic Hospital at Worcester on January 12, 1833, the first such institution in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I found the guidelines for transferring patients from existing prisons and hospitals to be particularly interesting. If these are too small to read here, click through to see larger versions on Flickr.
