Those who know me know I tend to not rush out and do the latest 'flavour of the month' kind of explore, however every so often I make an exception and, although this place is the flavour of the month right now I simply had to see it.

This enormous imposing building was constructed in 1903 when the temperance movement (that is, a social movement against alcohol) was at it's strongest. Inside, the main hall could seat 2000 people and these meeting places were big draws for Methodists across the UK. As well as the main hall it featured over thirty other rooms including three school halls. It closed for the first time in 1991, however it was, ironically, partly turned into a nightclub which remained open until 2002 - it then stayed empty until 2007 when another club moved in, and this left the premises in 2016. Various plans have been submitted for it's reuse over the years however it looks set to be converted into two swanky hotels at some point.

I loved this place. Architecturally it is stunning, and there is more leaded and stained glass here than I have ever seen before. I was quite glad there was nobody else in here when we visited - I was half expecting to bump into other explorers - as it meant we had the run of the building and were left in complete peace for the duration. The main hall is obviously the big draw here however I really enjoyed poking around all the other rooms as there is a lot more in here to see than just the hall itself. I took a particular liking to the triangular staircase located in the north eastern corner of the building.

Amazing set! That looks like quite the location. The architecture is stunning and the grand hall is breathtaking, your picture really do this place justice!

I'm here for a good time not a long time.

I can see why this place is a "flavor of the month". I can't imagine any explorer within driving distance not dropping everything to get in there while it is open and looks this pristine.

Excellent shots, without a doubt. You handled the lighting here masterfully, especially in your shots of the stairwell.

Cheers guys, I could've spent a whole lot longer here but we had other things to see, plus the entry/exit point is less than subtle so we wanted to get out whilst it was still relatively quiet on the streets

This set made my jaw drop and sway !!
What a place !!!

I love all the wooden details that you managed to capture for us to see and experience also. The herring bone flooring is becoming a long lost craft that is so gorgeous to me.

Thanks for the splendid tour

Wow, fantastic location! I hope they find a use that maintains its integrity before its historical elements and details become unsalvageable.
