Abandoned Planned Community in Arizona

My wife and I had encountered a few stories about a planned community in northern Arizona that never got off the ground. The 5000-acre site ultimately fell victim to the housing market crash in 2008, and save for a handful of model homes, nothing was ever built.

During a recent road trip, we realized the site was directly along our route, so we took a short detour and spent about an hour wandering around the handful of homes that were slowly rotting away in the desert heat. Two of the buildings played host to bee colonies (a previous explorer had even spray-painted a warning outside of a room where they were swarming), but other than that, there were no signs of life.

Good find!! #3 & 6 are great, I love the southwestern architecture. This would technically belong in the Four Corners forum, though.

Oops! I should've paid better attention to the map. Should I delete this one and repost in the correct spot?

nah, just leave it. Mods can take care of it if needed.

Great find nonetheless!

Great pics! I just hate that the vandal asshats hit these demo homes, they look interesting.
