This one has been explored a little bit over the last couple of weeks so I thought why not head over there and see what all the fuss was about.

The manor house was built in a sort of faux-Gothic style with additions to make it look more like a castle. It has been a private residence, a golf clubhouse and a youth hostel, it was bought and lived in by the last owner who died in 2015. Sadly he never put right the awful colour schemes used throughout the house when it was in the hands of the YHA.

Thankfully this one has been spared much of the idiocy with only a couple of broken windows, the mile and a half slog to get to it probably puts a lot of people off. It's very empty, but it's full of lovely natural decay.

Great place, would explore again.

That's pretty awesome. It's always interesting to know all the times that a location has been repurposed. Great shots.

I wouldn't call it a true castle, it was built in the mid 1800s in a castle style with additions to make it appear more like one. The turrets are actually the chimneys!

Who needs interior contents with a building as impressive as that! I'm particularly fond of the curved hallway ceiling upstairs. A mile and a half hike is my kind of place!

Great baronial manor here. Lots of character, and a real find. Perfect decay levels too!

True castle or not; I love that skylight and staircase.
