You've got quite an impactful collection of photos here. I really liked the emphasis you created with the changes in saturation.

Damn..... Just. Damn.....

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature.

Very interesting, but I can't help but wonder if this was a staged art project. I'll be the first to apologize if it's legit, but I don't know anyone who's died of cancer while sitting on a lazy-boy chair. Bed yes, but chair no. Death by cancer is not a sudden thing, and by the time you're weak enough to pass away, you're certainly not leaving your bed.

Nice photos though.. I love that first one.

My mom passed at home in her recliner. I spent the night with her. We shared her last meal, two spoons and a jar of Jif smooth about 3am. About 7 or so that morning she looks over at me and says , " Now you go home and take care of that baby". My son was 2 at the time. Looking back, that was the most lucid she had been in days... I guess she didn't want me to have to see the very end. I gave her the last hug,, and headed home. Not 20 minutes out I got the call.

The strange thing is, I was much closer to my dad. He's the one I miss the most. I loved my mom, but the relationship was just different. But, her death was harder on me. It made things more... final.

Sorry for the downer, but felt like sharing.

I stand corrected. Sorry for your loss.

For sure! We've all seen some strange setups and abandoned houses are definitely a calling card when it comes to good locations. In my teen years, my friends and I made a scene of our own in an abandoned house where we strung a body up to the ceiling by intestines spread out to the four corners of the room.

I do think this one is legit. I pieced it together a bit more than I divulged in the post. The house is full of green tagging by a local gang of kids. I think someone was so upset when they discovered this that they decided to go in and write over top the paint with their own messages as a big 'fuck you' and a reverse psychology way of preventing further vandalism.

The date and first name on the wall allowed me to find the actual obituary online. I'd post the whole thing, but being a public forum, I'd like to keep names out of it. This line struck me the most though:

I do like how they specifically left these messages for a trespasser like me to come across and think about. The one I liked the best was written backwards on the inside of the patio door so that it is the first message that greets you as you walk up...

For me, it certainly worked!

Excellent post as always. I very much look forward to your posts, especially when it comes to houses.

I was a tad skeptical at first. But after reading your second post and the obit you found I would certainly agree that this is for real. I really like the "respect this place" written on the door. A unusual and moving place for sure.

Reminds me of a house I explored last summer. The guy who lived there committed suicide in the house. Not only that but he shot himself in the living room, in a chair very similar to the one in this house.
I know this for fact because my friends dad, who lives across the street, was the one who ended up finding the guy.
The house was not very photogenic, stuff strewn about everywhere and the lighting that day was very poor. But it was filled with odd and interesting things from the guys life. It was certainly a very unique and somewhat unnerving explore and unlike any I have done before of since.

Thanks for posting that second set. That's unreal.
