Many people ask me how I find the locations that I do. The answer is flying. In my field of work, I often fly low and slow across the province while teaching students to navigate by air using maps. This form of 'Aerial Reconnaissance' has allowed me to cover great distances and find even the most remote locations.
I was flying along the mighty Miramichi River, while conducting a navigation exam with a student, when I spotted an abandoned homestead near the banks. While the student was busy calculating our ETA home, I quickly jotted down the latitude and longitude of the homestead so I could find it later on Google Earth.
Out of view, surrounded by trees and away from the secondary road, the place was in decent condition.

Judging by the notes I found in the shed, whoever lived here likely served with the RCAF at CBF Chatham, before it's closure. Ironically, the notes are about aerial reconnaissance!

This is Dark Harbour, on Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick. Taken at dawn.
P.S. I'm not sure how it happened, but the text somehow became a link. Sorry! I'm not a computer-smarts kinda guy.
