Following up on Saturday's aborted outing, I headed out to a small town in the middle of nowhere to check out this two-classroom school. I'll admit that given the location, I had visions of finding perfect rows of desks, arithmetic lessons on the chalkboard, a desiccated apple on the teacher's desk and stuff like that. Unfortunately, every fitting not attached to a wall was stripped out, and only a few out-of-place hay bales and pallets were left. It started raining heavily while I was inside, which gave me time to seek out the perfect little details that wouldn't have been apparent from a basic once-over.

I also stopped at this nearby house, which turned out to be almost entirely empty, but still worth visiting for a view of the pair of ospreys nesting on the chimney.
