There is this really cool abandoned mental hospital nearby me that I have been aching to visit for ages(Its actually one of the things that got me urban exploring). It seems the state may sell the facility soon, which would result in demolition. The site has 24/7 security, from Allied Universals, is right next to the towns police department, may possibly have cameras, and may possibly have door alarms. The hospital does have a massive tunnel system, but it could be flooded up to my knees. I was wondering if you think it is too risky or not, and if I do proceed if it should be during the day or by a pre-dawn.

I'm here for a good time not a long time.

Are you expecting anyone to say not to do it

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Depends on your definition of "cool". Consider exertion/reward.

One day I got a good camera.

I think I live in the same area as you and know what you are referring to. I've had my sights set on the same place for awhile now. Message me if you'd want to check it out because I'm looking for someone to go with.

Edit: Spelling

You could always go there one day (or a few days to be sure) and just chill in your car or on your bike or skateboard, watch the place and note any activity/patrols and note the times of any activities

When you go, I suggest Pre-Dawn definitely

Keep an eye out for cameras and sensors on your way in and while inside.

If you suspect you tripped a sensor or walked by a camera you have 3 options

1 - Go Home
2 - Roll the Dice
3 - Leave, sit in your car or be somewhere that you can watch the main entry and wait for a response.

If you go with option 3, which you should, and there is no response you can now go inside knowing the cameras and sensors are likely just there for show or a part of the old security system.

When inside the property watch for a patrol, usually hourly..when they walk/drive by you have lots of time to make your way in until they come back.

When inside, walk quietly, peek around corners/listen before making a move into a hallway or around a corner

Wear your rubber boots!

This is all pretty basic stuff that most on here know, but if you don't...well now you do

Oh, and keep a spare memory chip in your pocket to swap out discreetly if you get caught!

The End

Thanks for the advice! The patrol is quite tricky, it's usually divided from what I have observed. Some of the security watches the main entrance while some patrol. Eventually, they are all stationed somewhere for some time before one or two make rounds again, there seem to be about 2-3 cars in total, one that appears to be stationed most of the time, next to a what seems to be a decoy state trooper car. It definitely is do-able with ease, the possible cameras or alarms are all that complicate things.
