Recently me and a few friends decided the visit Fairfield Hills, the legendary mental hospital residing in Newtown, Connecticut. Originally known as Fairfield State Hospital, this complex held a few thousand patients, including the insane (at least by 20th century standards). Considering how many mental hospitals got shut down in the mid 1900s, it's surprising this one lasted until the 90s.
Access into the buildings is restricted and there was a police car so we decided not to risk it and just photographed the outside. Quite a shame we couldn't see the inside, as we heard there are some secret tunnels and the regular tales of spirits.
