A rare look inside a decommissioned power plant

I recently got (authorized) access inside this inactive power plant that many of you will recognize. It was built in the 70s and decommissioned in 2011 over environmental concerns. Private developers bought the property a few years ago, and they now have plans to turn the power plant into a hotel. Since the main structure is already very earthquake-resistant, they would rather transform it rather than demolish it completely.

9. Bonus photo: The numbers in the elevator indicate the elevation in feet rather than the floor number!

strangest elevator control panels ever.

Wow, just wow. I can’t even pick a favorite. Just goes to show how worth it is to get authorized access sometimes.

Totally! Some parts of the plant (notably the control room) are near-impossible to enter without authorization.

Our region has been waiting years to see what's inside this location.

I think you should get a "PSW Commendation" star on your profile for this, lol.

Oh the hideous price to pay for a coal-free west coast

Incredible.
