I second that! I see absolutely no noise in that pic. I'm amazed.

It was shot as a RAW image with noise reduction on as well as post processed with Canon's DPP app to further reduce the noise.
That was shot with a EOS-1D MK3, state of the art technology ten years ago.
That cam was a great street shooter.
By now I would expect better low light performance in lower end new models.

Point is you can get usable keepers at high ISO settings if you're careful.
One trick is to keep the subjects close to the cam as you tend to lose fine details from the noise. Complex images don't fare as well.
The image is degraded somewhat as well from downsizing it to post it on the web.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Im not much on giving my critique, every once in a while i might. Frankly all the talk about ISO settings, noise reduction, and whether someone uses a tripod or, not makes my head spin LOL> But, i must say what a HUGE difference there is in your post here and the California Academy. You have obviously came a long way already. Keep up the Great Work!

Seriously, when I first started, I couldn't even remember that IOS wasn't the same as ISO. It would give me a seizure reading about it. That's why I had to just go shoot and take whatever notes I could. Then there would be that "Oh, don't ever do THAT again" shot.
But thank you so much for the compliment. I can never express how much positive feedback helps, so thank you thank you thank you. Negative feedback helps a lot too, it just doesn't give that warm, fuzzy good feeling I wish I would have known about this site years ago when I started, it would have helped me speed up that learning curve!

Ahaha, I love simplifying stuff! Hope it helps!
I totally agree, especially the price point, would hurt alot less having an accident with it. Damn, 80 and 60d! Those are tanks. And yeah, once you upgrade and start using the features etc you wonder what you did without them lol.
Thanks for the kind words!

Yes, I LOVE my setup, but in all honesty, it doesn't matter as much as we like to think. A skilled photographer could take better pictures with the very bottom line camera than some wannabe with a top of the line rig. The 80 sold me on the AF points right away, but I need to learn more about it now that I opened myself up to this site; per blackhawk's advice, I'm reading the manual cover to cover. I still love AND USE my T6 all the time. Like I said, it's the lenses that help.

Couldn't agree more. On that note, which lenses would you say are your favorite?

The lens I use more than any of the others is the Canon EF-S 10-18mm wide angle. Shockingly light weight, which is ALSO why I still use the T6 sometimes... Carrying all this stuff gets heavy. I LOVE the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II. It's scary quiet with the AF, no noise (unless you bump the ISO, which I need to start doing). I sometimes use the 85mm 1:1.8, but it tends to get more noise than I would have thought for the price. It has an AF override though, which can be useful. Also an EF 50mm, and an IS 28-135mm. I want more. I have a lens fetish.
