**Note: I have a lot of photos of this place, so this will be in two parts.**

2 years ago in grad school I got to work on a great class project that involved work on this old place. It was built in the 1720-1750s and has seen better days. It's missing some exterior walls, floors...heck there's not even a stairway upstairs!

The area where this home was once located used to be nothing but sugar cane fields. However, by the early 20th century, oil fields became the new "crop". This home hasn't been lived in since the early 70's. The locals all want this place to be saved, hence the reason why myself and my class were there to check it out.

It was amazing to literally see the different renovations/additions peeling away. 7 layers wallpaper in one room: each one a different style, fabric, etc., dating from the 1940s to the 1820s. Each room you could see a different decade of construction. You could also see 12 feet below you to the ground if you weren't careful enough! Obviously the floors are barely existent.

For 40 years this place had been left to the elements and some vandalism had been done. But workers are there nowadays trying to prop it up and save it. Hopefully this place can be restored to its former glory...it's not every day you see an almost 300 year old house with a lot of its original details!

More to come, thanks for looking!

Yeah this one is not in New Orleans. I know the one you are talking about on Esplanade! This one is luckily far away enough the vandals have not gotten to it.
