2017 - A Bumper Life in Ruins

2017 has been an unbelievable year for me. I have explored more and explored further than I ever have before. I spent three weeks in the USA and finally ticked Detroit off my bucket list, and on home soil managed to fit in four trips to Wales and a big trip to Scotland as well. I explored some truly epic stuff, and some not so epic stuff as well including one place which is probably the single worst location I've ever shot - as well as shooting my 500th abandonment.

This year I made a specific effort to explore stuff that wasn't on the overblown, over-shot 'tourist trail', and personally found more new stuff than I have done in any other year. I also decided to spend a lot of my time documenting car graveyards as not only have I always loved classic cars in general I also love abandoned cars. I think in total I managed sixteen of them this year, although that tally may be bumped up a couple this coming weekend as I have one more small trip planned but I'm not sure at all how it will work out.

Also this year I finally rediscovered my interest in abandoned houses - there have been a few absolute belters surface in the UK this year so it would be foolish of me to not check them out. My only regret is not doing as much in the way of industry as I have done in years gone by - that my usual partner in crime nowadays isn't a fan of factories hasn't helped!

This is going to be a pretty huge thread, so grab some leftover Christmas food or a beer or something and enjoy. I'd say only about half of these I made specific threads for so there's probably a lot you haven't seen.

That's a Tatra T87 in photo 81! Damn, it's a shame that thing is parked in a hedge.

I wish it was a Tatra! It's actually an Austin A90 Atlantic, which is another very rare car.

#33 are busts from a closed down amusement park, they were shipped off site and have been in storage in a field behind a lumber yard ever since.

You went to some truly beautiful locations this year and your shots, as always, capture them wonderfully. I am envious of your wide angle shots in too many photos to list here. Love 'em!

Absolutely in love with all of these churches especially, and the car graveyards of course.

Absolutely fantastic job, can't wait to see what you get up to next year too!
