Far from being one of my most exciting exploration. It had been a long while since I had found a local abandonment where I got excited. Had a bit of a field day with my camera...

Unfortunately, the main buildings are long gone, both due to demolition and a fire that happened during the demo. Still, The maintenance shop, offices, first aid building and a few other structures and several piece of machinery still stand. They give plenty to keep your camera entertained. The numerous piles of bear poop, will also make you keep an eye behind your back.

I tried to cut out a lot of photos... still got 74 that made it onto this post. hope you guys / girls do not mind.

Neck braces... they had a whole stack of them, many like these in plastic. and a lot out of cardboard... I guess they expected a lot of serious injuries.

So much to see wow, nice detailed documentation of this place. I really like the wide angle in some of these shots, works well.

Yeah TONS of photos!

Seems like there was a lot to see, so it makes sense! I was surprised "wow, this photo set just keeps going...." lol

Neat find with lots of rooms and odd machinery!

I know, I don't ever post this many photos of a single location. Then again, most local locations are fairly small and not exciting. It is a large site, with a good variety of stuff. Its a real shame that the main working area of the mill was demolished... It would have been like Disneyland for the local explorers.

Fantastic photo set and find, Rio. It's always interesting to see a location from somebody else's perspective, the differences in photo angles, what caught one person's attention as opposed to another's. Thanks again for giving me a heads up on this spot, it really made my day last weekend when I had some time to check it out. Looks like you got to spend some good time there, and it's great to see it fully lit up, I don't recognize a few of the rooms.

Here are a handful of my shots from the spot, unsurprisingly a lot of our angles overlapped, I'll try to stick to unique shots. Since I crashed my bike off road in July I've been without a fully functioning camera, so I was forced to make due with what I have left, which amounted to flashless blind firing with the 5 MP front facing camera on my S7.

I picked up a decent old 16 MP Nikon point and shoot for $20 on Craigslist yesterday. I'll be heading back out to the Fraser Canyon this weekend to see how it fares.

I almost never use my flash. A tripod and flashlight works wonder for me. Even with using a cellphone. most of phones have some manual setting for the camera.

I bet you could get pretty decent shot. I think for shit and giggles. I will put this to the test on my next exploration.

Great variety of shots, Rio. Wish I could take a crack at one of those old computers, the friend I explore with has a portable power supply that we've been able to power up a couple ancient computers with, and they still worked!

And EPOCH6, for front-facing blind-fire you did pretty damn well!

That is an awesome idea! I've never heard of anybody doing that. I'd love to give it a shot, I'm going to see if I can track a power supply down at work today.

You may never get another chance to observe Windows 95 in its natural habitat.

If you could find out the specs on the portable power supply that your buddy uses that would be dynamite. If I remember right these older machines pulled a lot of juice.

He built it himself actually, he's an electrical engineer. IIRC it boils down to a lead-acid battery attached to an inverter that turns the battery's 12VDC to 12VAC, then a transformer to get that up to 120VAC. I'll ask him if he has a schematic for the circuit. I stand corrected, it's an off-the-shelf inverter he just attached a battery to, lol. It's heavy and large enough to warrant its own backpack or bag; we only bring it along if a previous trip uncovered a computer that looks operational. If the computer has any hint of rust then we don't bother because the insides are probably ruined and could damage his battery device.

Older computers by themselves don't draw too much power just idling, but the CRT monitors really guzzle it. We've had more success extracting the computer's hard drive and attaching it into a dock connected to a laptop brought for the purpose. If the drive still works then we can recover data.

The sites we know of aren't the sort that would have any computer equipment left but one particular mill did and one of the two machines there was fully operational!

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

Half the fun would be booting the old OS! Right into Windows 95 or something!
