Okay, as a full member I really feel I ought to know this already, but are the "conventions" that are associated with the car profile emblem the same as the events on the Events page?

Almost all of my explorations have been solo (though I'm hoping to change that in the future) due to a lack of transportation, so that side of urban exploration is mostly foreign to me. It appears as though there are a lot more conventions than I remember being on the events page in the last year, which prompted this question. Are they the same thing?

conventions are large scale events including many members over the course of a few days or more. much more work and planning is required to go in to the convention, you (the convention planner, host) also must submit a form to UER explaining who went, what you did and the locations or area that were explored. it gets reviewed by Av, or the mod team and the description will show up under your username profile and the car emblem awarded.

event are just that, small scale and sometimes annual events. usually they are not recognized by the mod team as anything important.

Ah. So both would generally appear on the "Events" page well in advance?

Depends. Some events are kept private between cliques or groups of explorers who are friends. I personally have not seen a real convention hosted for years now, but if you check on some of the older members profiles they definitely did happen 10+ years ago.
