At 153 years old, this house predates Canadian Confederation. Sadly, it won't survive to see another birthday as the land was expropriated by the city in 2015 and in 2018 it will be demolished for a nearby highway expansion.

Despite the local historic activist groups bringing the attention of the lengthily history of the building and it's former inhabitants, the city staff decided there just "wasn't enough time" to do a thorough and proper investigation of the property.

The exterior was built in 1863 with 100% limestone, mined from the very ground the house stands upon.

The house remained within the same family for the majority of it's existence, being passed down from generation to generation and several members even spent their last days alive on the homestead.

The house played host for several weddings, funerals, birthday parties and other celebrations. Family shared fond memories of Christmas parties and Thanksgiving Dinners at the final goodbye of the property, shortly after its expropriation.

by "not enough time" I think they meant "can't stop blowing each other" it's a general misconception but most governments operate that way.

Is this reality or my memory getting mileage? Am I staring at the sun or blood vessels in my eyelids
