And I'm going to laugh all the way into the Mexican surgeon's office to sell a kidney to do it.

Nikon just announced the new D850, which I've been keeping close track of for a while now. It should be incredible in low light, given the Sony backlit sensor, but 45.75mp at 9 frames per second (with battery grip) 4k video, 8k timelapse, focus peaking, highlight detection, etc. Almost 1900 shots per battery btw.

Basically my dream camera. Yup. I'm getting one. Retails for $3,300, but after the grip, extra batteries, wireless tether, and XQD cards, $4k is a good guess.

Very nice! Guess I'll be reading articles all day about this beast now, thank you.

That Sony sensor and the low light abilities it brings with it is very appealing.

Turns out the sensor is 100% in house by Nikon with their own patents and so on.

From the sample images I've managed to get my hands on from the demos, it looks like Nikon was on the ball when they said it has twice the ISO performance of the D810. So the noise you'd get at ISO 25,000 on the D850 is what you'd see at ~12,800 on the D810.

Damn.

Btw, that's a typo. Supposed to say ISO 64 in the first box. 1:1 crop on the image.

oh my gosh; I can't even begin to fathom that kind of ISO performance, especially considering that my frame of reference is my ancient D200 ^^'

Even with my 5D Mark II, ISO 800 looks like shit at 1:1. One day I'll be able to afford a newer camera that will still allow me to pay my mortgage.
