Before I get into the photo dump, a little background. Eagleye888 and I haven't explored anything major together since last year's run in with the police at Orange Knit Elementary, an elementary which was semi-active. I've since discovered a pretty large industrial complex that is definitely should be absolutely abandoned. When I found it, I was pretty unprepared. I checked out the exterior and told myself I'd come back with Eagle. This place is special, it's not incredibly huge, but it's the biggest place I've been to so far. Regrettably I have no history for this place, I don't even know its name.

After buying a Nikon D3300, I was real antsy to get out and take some shots. After doing my initial scout, and making the call that "this place is going to go a lot better than that stupid elementary", we decided to hit it early in the morning.

This is the view from the first corner we hit. Lots of overgrowth, and lots of windows welded shut.

Heading around the rear-most portion, you can see the facility's (or the city's, I'm not sure which, though it didn't have any lettering on it) water tower peak over the building.

In a few of the above images, in addition to the main building, you can see a side building near the foot of the water tower. This had a sign for a business, and was surrounded by random debris and scrap. The first time I had been to this spot, there was nothing to indicate that it was active, and the morning we took these shots we came to the same conclusion.

(Forgive me for centering the subject of so many of these shots, I didn't even realize it until I went to edit them)

After dinking around with the expansive exterior, we decided to try our luck inside. We couldn't see much other than a vast husk of a warehouse/factory, or whatever it was. I didn't get any good photos because quickly after we entered, the wind howling through the walls put us on edge. We decided to double back to where we started the adventure, just to make sure we hadn't overlooked anything or anyone that might see us wandering.

Once back to the car, I took this shot, and we realized that this big ol' tower was part of the complex. We got really excited at the idea of seeing what's inside this tower.

We continued along the side, being cautious not to overlook any minor details..

You see in the below picture this rusted out electrical station. As we creep forward and I got the shot of the DVD case, Eagleye stops me and says he's pretty sure he saw something flash over by the station.

This is where the photos end and the story begins. We were both a bit jittery about exploring together again, so we decided just to wait it out and give ourselves some time to think. We didn't want to overdo it, but we also didn't want to let our trip be cut short by some event that happened last year. We chose to take baby steps and head back around the building, not committing to any one mindset, other than that we didn't want to pursue the tower today.

As Eagle and I round the corner to the watertower, he throws his arm into my chest and tells me to "go back". I quickly see what he's running from, the "deserted" business now had 2 cars parked at it and a guy walking around outside. We decide not to take any chances and just take off in the car.

If you couldn't tell from the pictures, this building has a paved path leading all the way around it in a circle. Naturally, the circle meets itself. As we turn the last corner to drive out past the gate, a burgundy SUV pulls around the opposite corner. I gun it out of the property and take a left, which lead right past that service station.

Just our luck, at the service station were 3-4 separate public works vehicles, with a whole bunch of guys bumming around right near it. We pass them, I look out the rear-view mirror and the SUV has turned to follow us. I turn onto the next road and try to "fly casual" while also putting some cars in between us and the SUV. Of course, we look back to see that it's also turned onto the road going the same direction. It starts passing a few cars, and Eagle starts recommending places to pull in, to test if he's really following us. We pull into a drive thru restaurant and I back the car in. As I look out, I see the SUV pass the store, but slow down as it does. The guy leaned forward and looked out, probably trying to see who we are.

Not five seconds later a police cruiser pulls into the parking lot. My passenger and I say a quick prayer but luckily he pulls into the drivethru. Eagle and I both go into the restaurant and get some coffee and pancakes. While we wait, another cruiser pulls up, this time reeeaal slow-like. Thankfully, it too pulls into the drive thru and heads off to duty.

Nothing else came of that trip, we had a few other places planned but that shook me up enough to call it a day. We drove home and discussed what went wrong, what went right, and how everything we felt and heard added up. Not the world's most exciting story, but I was definitely getting those "wow, what if X happened and we had to explain ourselves to the police" thoughts.

Tune in next July when Eagle and I stumble into an organized crime ring.

Some info on the building, that's the former presto_lite building, it is inactive, but monitored. The man who owns the mall in the city owns the warehouse, I've heard he is not lenient at all. There have been many arrests on that for trespassing and scrapping, both of which carried hefty fines. All I know is it's a factory that built alternators and car parts, it shut down around 84'I think. That's all I know, we've made a few runs to it so we had to do a lot of research.

Thanks for that info. I tried to glance back at the half-broken sign on our race out of there but neither of us could remember the half a name we saw. Definitely got lucky then that he didn't drive the long way around the factory and find the car.
