So I'm at a total loss here, and I just have one quick question. What sort of asbestos/mold cartridges would I use on this respirator? Would appreciate links to it on amazon. Thanks in advance!

I did read the thread about them but I'm still not sure what to get.

The respirator: https://www.amazon...L6NZExL&ref=plSrch

Also, links to what you guys use would be much appreciated.

There's a concrete jungle calling my name out there.

Note: the below is for informational purposes, is not intended as advice, author is not held liable for the actions or health of the reader. They are advised to seek proper hazmat training and fitting.

First off, do you know how to use a respirator and have had one fitted before?

The right filter doesn't matter if the mask doesn't get a proper air seal on your face. Instead of sucking air through the filter, it'll just pull from weak spots around the gasket, so it'll suck airborne crud into your lungs anyhow.

They aren't something you can just pull of a rack and get working off the bat 99% of the time in a contaminated environment. Yes, people do it, but it's not the safe or smart thing.

A standard N100 filter should do you for stuff that gets kicked up when walking around. That said, unless you take other methods of control, you'll still be breathing it in when you leave the abandonment.

Honestly, unless you know what you are doing, I don't recommend going into contaminated areas. For example, if you were just wearing a properly fitted mask, you'd still be tracking particulates out with you on your skin, clothes, and shoes. So it'll still get airborne in your car or tracked into the carpet, etc. There's a reason why tyvek suits and respirators are mandatory for asbestos, even when doing wet remediation. Dry remediation is a suit plus scba.

We are actually talking about respiratory stuff in a main forum thread. Might want to check it out.

^this^

If you're clueless you have no safe way to explore heavily contaminated areas.
A respirator is just one element of the many required to do it safely. You need working knowledge more than anything.

If the fibers are flying in the air... you shouldn't be there.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
