Hey everyone. I recently explored an old bowling alley from my childhood. I apologize for the poor composition and focus of some of (most of) these photos, It was pitch black and my light went out so all i had was my gf's light and the flash. I'll give a little bit of history before I get started, however it's hard to find many photos of this place online, I could probably dig through some old family albums.

This bowling alley opened in 1958, making it one of the oldest bowling alleys in the area, and was active up until 2006, when it was purchased and underwent a $2 million renovation. After it reopened a year later in 2007, the newly renovated alley boasted "state-of-the-art animated computer scoring," black lights, video projectors, 120-inch screens, a "world-class sound system" and "over 20 types of Tequila.". It stayed open for 3 more years, until the owner decided he had too much money tied up in the project and closed the locally beloved alley in June of 2010. The building was sold to the bank and the equipment that could be reused was liquidated by another company to be reused in other bowling alleys. It's been boarded up and totally sealed ever since.

It's very possible that we were the first civilians to see the inside of this place since it closed, as it was completely undisturbed by vandals and the homeless. The alleys themselves were torn up and sold, as well as the equipment, however, the furnishings were still all there, as well as all the kitchen equipment and decor. I can vividly recall exactly how this place looked when it closed, and it's pretty much still all there... with a few additional surprises and junk after the owner used it as storage.

So without further ado, here's the photos of the explore.

As you walk in, you are greeted by darkness, completely still air and silence, and an odd smell that reminded me of leather. We pulled out our lights in the darkness and lit up the entryway. As we made our way further in, feelings of curiosity and surprise, as well as sadness for what had become of this place, filled my head.

As we looked to our left, where the lanes were once located, we realized this was used as someones garage. We found five cars and one huge chevy van, filled with junk. A couple Datsuns, 280z and 240z, some of my favorite cars. An old Nash convertible, a Mercedes, and one other I couldnt identify.

That's all folks, thanks for taking the time to check out this post. If you have any questions I can probably answer them as I know a little bit about this place.

did you take pics of the model that went with you?

Nice post

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.

Yes, I was surprised too, as I was saying, I'm pretty much 98% sure we were the first civilians inside this building since it closed. I was very difficult to get in.

I also believe that all of the balls and pins you see were either commemorative or damaged because AMF liquidated all the usable equipment, including balls and pins.

Thanks man! I'm not so knowledgable on Mazdas. Kindof a shame an interesting collection of cars has just been rotting away in darkness.

This is a great set. The fact that it's so undisturbed provides a likely accurate history of the last days of the place. The cars themselves seem to be part of a missing story of the personal kind. It's almost as if these cars were "project cars" bought but later dumped as things dried up economically for the owner. Rather than having them around like an albatross around the neck, it seems dumping them right inside the equally ruined business was a simple and effective to distress closure.

Anyway, enjoyed the pictures. Not looking terribly bad for a place that's been abandoned for 8 years or so either.
