Life throws you strange ways; after 5 summer they did tell me there would be no work for me at this year. Nice, especially because my higher unemployment benefit is ending soon. I'm trying still to live like there would be no tomorrow, enjoy life, freedom etc.

And once again I was there, far at the countryside, walking through those wide fields at warm summer noon, sky high over me filled with few cotton white clouds enjoying that mood… and wondering how many times I’ve already been there (I did have to check it back home: answer were 36 since 2007).

But here we go...

That mood when you enter those almost 100 meter long storage wings, that were built for drying bricks… how it feels dark and when entering deeper, it get’s even darker. It’s forgotten world, but still there is always that tension at the beginning: am I alone or not? Slowly eyes start to see better, darkness starts to be much more friendly.

I love that place, I truly do. I love those dark shadows, I love that how beautiful sunlight does look where it finds it’s way in. I also love that combination of wood and concrete. I love everything there.

Main building have 3 floors, drying wing just two. Anyway it’s big building and that feeling when you are there alone, it’s so strange… strange and enchanting. But this time this photo lies, I’ll think it looks so serene and calm. True story is that day was very windy, almost stormy, so whole world were filled with all kinds of sounds… some of them so odd that your brains were telling how they must be manmade… that is time to keep your imagination in control and enjoy that soundscape.

Yeah, I know. I’ve photographed this view for who knows how many times, but how could I get enough of it? Every time it’s good spot to stop, take picture and wait while camera takes long exposure. That on rails machine, those shadows, that light, X’s on the wall… ain’t there reasons enough?

You may know how most workplaces create their own language. At this brick factory “vakki” is one of those. As far as I’ve been able to conclude, it means oven for drying bricks. “Huono” is real Finnish word and means bad. Looking through all doors of those big ovens it seems that situation have live through the years. 1972… message from 45 years ago.

Again I did try to be as slow as possible, telling me that there is no need to hurry. Be slow and let your senses be open. Yeah, photographed these hanging overalls before too, but not from this angle. That madness may be called freedom too.

Forgotten and such hidden that even most of locals don’t know that this exist. And still there are changes; this packet weren’t on this third floor at my last trip two months ago.

On the wall of small, I mean really small, maybe 1,5x2m office is lay-off notice from 1988. “Lack of manpower has made so difficult to work that it seems we have to end this season early”. There is spelling mistake in that tittle, it should be ILMOITUS instead ILOITUS. ILO means JOY in Finnish, so someone – obviously frustrated worker – have written there “ILOITKAAMME!” which means “let’s joy”. Small stories from the past.

From the same place but from another wall. Paper has twisted by the power of loneliness.

Details, details, details details details everywhere. Let the dragon’s fly.

At the second floor… Rendezvous of insect-like creatures, or landing on the moon? Mind plays in that kind of places (and spaces).

If I should pick my favorite view from there… it probably would be this corridor. At this time it was even more amazing than usual. There were probably trees just over that hole in the ceiling, and hard wind did move them all the time randomly making light fade and brighten fast but softly… it did look welding light but much more pretty. Wind did also rise dust in the air, and time after time rays of light did came visible… sad that I didn’t get them into this one.

Madness, pure madness! That’s what you might shout and that is what I was thinking when taking this selfie. But what the hell, why not? I was there alone and freedom were the word. Of course I wouldn’t have to share this but… where would be fun be then?

Madness, pure madness! Retaking photos that I have retake hundred times already… and then again: why not? I love this view as much as I always have.

And same corridor to another direction, I’ll think it looks even better.

I suppose I could spend all the power from my camera to this room alone… there are so much details in this workshop. But at this time, after 2+ hours I were already running out of power. Well, I weren’t but my camera was. Just one from there at this trip.

And finally the last one. Again it was same as always: already while driving to home I did get that “I wan’t to return” feel. It’s magic, or just pure idiotism, I’m not sure… but I love it.

------

And today's off-topic-bonus-photo really comes from today; wake up at 3:45 (bit too late), check the weather, get fast into car and drive fast those 35 kilometers to Paradise. Amazingly cold summer morning, ground were frost even when leaving at 6:00.

That's it, thanks and CHEERS - it's beer time at this evening!

I dont care if this is visit 136. The lighting is awesome. Your love for this place shines through each and every capture. The way this place makes you feel is what exploration is all about. The workshop photo is one of my faves, but i cant help but love the colors in the first mad brick corridor pic. I wish you could buy this place and move in WH. You would be so happy there!

I've actually wondered what will happen when time will run out with owner. There is so amazingly much everything at outside too, so getting rid of it all will be something beyond imagination. I did once met one woman who lives quite near, and of course that place irritates she lot - no matter they can't even see it, so they have tried for years to get all and everything away from there, thank god with no results. In my opinion whole place should be done museum or something like that, leave it be.

And if I would have money... buying that paradise would be really nice!

Thanks, and I suppose that brick factory did close at early 90s. After that it have been one guy's storage - man that buys but don't sell anything, or at least it looks like that outside there. Inside have been untouched for long, long time... and most of outside area too but time after time something new random stuff seems to appear.
