So I've heard that this place has gotten a lot of exposure lately, but I've only seen one other set of photos from here, so I apologize if some of these shots are a little obvious.

This was an interesting follow-up to the mansion we visited a few weeks ago. While that place was filled with vintage mid-century artifacts that wouldn't look out of place in an antique shop, this house was chock full of late nineties-early 00's leftovers which you could have easily found in my family's house when I was growing up. It lent a weird sense of nostalgia to the place.

That pink bedroom is AMAZING. I love all the wallpaper patterns in the different rooms--peeling wallpaper always makes for some good pictures!

Something so modern being so abandoned looks really strange.

There is a very strong "rhetoric of irritation" kind of vibe here. I actually find it a bit unsettling. These photos definitely provoke an emotional response from me.

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, it's pretty bad, but it seems like all of the best areas were left pretty unmolested. Most of the tagging was concentrated in the pool room.

oh, btw. in pic 11. paint? or blood?

We found an empty bottle of fake "vampire blood", so I assume that's what it was. Somebody decided it'd be a good idea to spread it basically over the entire house.

It's fake.

Hey thanks! I hadn't really heard the term "rhetoric of irritation" before now, but it's cool that that's the impression that these photos leave you with. I find it interesting that almost all of the examples I could find when I looked it up were in the form of digitally altered images and collages, so I think it's cool that these photos can convey that idea just from their depiction of organic compositions that exist "in situ". It seems like such rhetoric is usually deployed intentionally through works created specifically to provoke that reaction, so it's really interesting to me that my photos can accidentally evoke that same feeling.

I was going to type a response and then realized Mr. TrashPanther here said it perfectly.

Something so profoundly ominous about a house built just yesterday being abandoned today.

I think 7 provides the best example:

There's a big pink bed that looks clean and made up dominating the center of the frame. On the edges of the picture, the ceiling is water damaged, the hardwood floor is warped, and the paint is peeling around the fireplace. I knew something was off immediately, but I had to look around for a bit to really see it.

I know it might be hard to tell from Baldran's photos, but the main part of this house was built WAY before just yesterday.

The original house was built so long ago it didn't even have running water. The vintage tub in 14 is part of an addition on the back of the house that added indoor plumbing, probably some time in the early 1900s. The big kitchen, the modern looking bathroom, and the tagged up pool are all part of another much later addition.

And yeah, this place blew up unbelievably fast, thanks to a thoughtless Instagrammer. A year ago, there was zero spray paint here.

Then this house was clearly loved dearly at one point to put all the effort into it. Thank you for that bit of history, it is much appreciated.

Such a shame that people would rather damage than preserve. I'll never understand that behavior.

How beautiful this place must have been in it's heyday. Still a photographer's dream. Just can't help wondering where the people went and why they left so much behind. Such a shame assholes have torn it up, seriously, what is wrong with people?!?
Admittedly, I love pink, but that bedroom photo is so beautiful. Love pic 11 too, the molding and draperies. And 12, the wallpaper, exposed ceiling, staircase and banister. Great shots!
There does seem to be a strange mix of old and new. I guess it's just that the kitchen doesn't look like it belongs with the rest of the house.
Delightful photos, thanks for sharing!!
