I know this might seem a bit sketch, since I literally joined the forum a couple days ago, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in meeting up with a rookie CA explorer on some type of trip to a couple cool locations. I did one last year that wasn't really Bay Area but it was near enough but that's all so far. I know some locations I'd like to hit up but honestly I'm a bit scared bc I don't rly know the area well and don't know the cop/squatter/gang details that could be potentially dangerous. Even a couple of pointers or some advice would be appreciated even if we didn't meet up. Sorry if this is uncalled for and I will remove it if it is not a cool thing to ask for~

The Bay Area requires either a bit more research or a bit more skilled/risky infiltration than it used to a few years. Many of the popular spots from a few years ago are now either unexploreable, or difficult to get in. However it definitely can be done and there are still a number of good locations. Different areas are riskier than others, so research before you go. Going with an experienced member who is familiar with the area is not a bad idea either.

thanks for the reply dude. i've come to realise over the past couple years that the bay area is more difficult to research online than ireland even tho the urbex community there is practically non-existent. hopefully i can find someone willing to give me direction and/or meetup. i'd rather meet a full member just so i know they are legit and not a serial killer :/

The easier it is to find the faster it gets ruined/shut down. There is a small amount that is still easy to find online though. depends how hard you wanna look I suppose.

if someone from UER was to take a trip to Ireland and you were willing to host/show them around I'm sure we would be willing to do the same for you out here in California or the other regions.

Kind of like when people want to see the Catacombs of Paris, they usually post in that regions board and see who is willing to host them with the promise of returning the favor if a French explorer were to take a trip to the United States

I'd def consider doing a meetup in Ireland or give someone pointers. there are some p cool places but accessibility is def an issue. meeting randomers/cops in locations probably wouldn't be as big a problem as in the US bc no one has guns rly. Mostly ur problem here is gonna be heroine addicts but its about the same risk as roaming Dublin city in the evening

But that's part of the adventure!

But yeah the crime culture in the US is a lot more intense than in Ireland..and pretty much any good abandoned building that gets leaked to someone who isn't trustworthy is bound to get trashed. I would say one of the best ways to discover abandoned buildings in the Bay Area is if you have access to a vehicle in the States is to drive around and check out the historic sections of cities.

There are also many decommissioned military installations and bases in the Bay Area. Find out where they are and drive around the cities they're located in. You're bound to find at least a few buildings per city.

Yeah, I'd drive around. It's also usually true if you check out places that are more rural (there are some of those around the Bay), the risk is usually lower (except for running into any crazy rednecks or the owner) but you would need a car for that. And just act casual when you're walking around scoping out places or entering and exiting--if you look like you belong there then it's less likely anyone will think to question you.
