Your really lucky... I've always dreamed of doing that but well my marks aren't any good so I screwed myself. Sometime in my life I will get my private licence though.

*Withholds terrible joke about the Canadian Armed Forces...*

I, unfotunately, have less than 20/20 vision without corrective lenses, so a career flying anything cool in the military is out of the question. If I had it my way, I'd have accepted the scholarship after high school and gone into the USMC to fly helicopter gunships...

Heartless there is nothing wrong with the CF-18's? We have very few of them but still 128 of them could do some major damage.. That and our military is very weak which I don't like but meh we don't need an army. I have 20/15 vision so I am good with the eye sight but the grades aren't there heh.. ah well

I know, I know, I was just doing my civic duty as an American and poking fun... the CF-18 is indeed a beautiful aircraft; I envy you, Gunslinger. If I were to fly fixed wing in the military and could fly anything I wanted, I'd go with the A-10 "Warthog." I'm sorry, but any plane built around a badass cannon of a gun and designed to fly fast and low has my name written all over it. Don't tell the FAA, but one of my favorite things to do is buzz treetops in winter over Wisconsin.

I've been feeling funny since I went in that open crypt. Not sure what it is.

I'd have to go with a Piper Cub or Aviat Husky.

You guys?

I'm a big fan of both those aircraft. I also like the helio aerocourier and the pilatus porter. And I'm a sucker for DHC Beavers. That fills out the 'planes I might actually fly one day' section.

For being pieces of shit to fuel (especially on floats) Cessna Caravan's are pretty cool.

If I had the money to get my Multi Commercial IFR and fly anything I wanted it would probably be, of all aircraft, a Twin Otter. I think they're fantastic.

This awesome plane:

USAF TG-10D (civilian designation Blanik L33 Solo), one of 4 in the Air Force inventory. One of them has my name stenciled on the cockpit. I had tons of fun flying those little planes, probably the smallest aircraft I'll ever fly. On a good day you can stay up for hours, only coming down when you get hungry or have to piss. And they never need any fuel, ever.

Of course I'm headed for T-6's in a couple months and then hopefully something fast & pointy-nosed, but I wouldn't trade my days spent flying gliders for anything.

I've heard flying gliders is a very eerie experience because it is silent other than noises of the air around you. Just curious to see if this is true?

I'd have to say the Boeing 777 - was the most comfortable and enjoyable flight I've taken in all my days as an airline passenger. New Airbus A380 may be a contender for my fav aircraft once it's launched though - looking promising.

I just saw a two hour special about the design and construction of the A380 (there has been atleast one built so far) and I am falling in love with this aircraft. It's going to be phenominal. I work at a major airport and British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and FedEx will be among the first to fly this plane out of here (they are shooting for mid 2006). I can't wait to see it live.

Other than that, yeah I love the triple 7 too.

I learnt how to fly in a gilder and let me tell you its the best flying you can ever do. now because the gilders source of thrust (or propulsion) is gravity so the pitch angle of the gilder basically determines the speed your going, so with enough practice you can fly by sound. also every gilder sounds a little bit different do to the various dings and nicks in the wings and nose cones and the way the canopy fits into the mounting. another little fun thing is, just as you hit the point of stall it goes perfectly silent for just a second, if your not paying attention to what your doing and you all of sudden realize its perfectly quite its a nice little "oh shit" moment before the nose plunges (this happens a lot when your thermaling, which is another lesson for another day). anyways, i recomend gliders to anyone its the closest you can get to true flight and really really enjoyable to fly.

Yes, yes, yes, all very true. The best days of my life have been spent soaring at the top of a thermal or in roaring mountain wave up in a glider. I have flown in some that are noisy, some that whistle, and the favorite has such a nice tight canopy that all you hear is a soft, gentle whoosh of air and that only if you're going fast. Even though I have been flying powered for a couple months now and am about a week or two away from my license, I am going to go straight back to gliders as soon as I can. I miss them, very much.

Powered planes are noisy, shaky, and they only fly by angrily thrusting themselves through the air. Glider flight is real flight, it is smooth, graceful, and amazingly fun. You become one with the plane, and one with the air. You learn a LOT about fundamentals of flight an airmanship. I heartily concur with the recommendation! Anyone can learn to fly them and you definitely won't regret it.

I like the Mooney M20m Bravo. I also like the Cessna T182-T

Wish I could afford either one.

I settle for a 1972 Cessna 182-P.

Personally, I have to pick the North American F-100 Super Sabre, because my Dad flew them in Vietnam, and the Cherokee 180, because thats what I got my ticket in.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

My favorite is the F-16 and it is followed very closely by the F-4. However I will never get a chance to fly, or fly in, either one of those. As far as GA goes I've had a whole lot of fun in some old Cubs and really like Tiger Moth's
