Another surprise side-of-the-road stop from this spring. This motel was small, but I found it startlingly beautiful with all its faded pastels in the middle of the desert. Didn't get much time though, because some trucker just had to choose that moment and that place to stop for a piss.

Hand-painted

Backside

Pano 1

Squares and Squares

Don't Go In

Another Dirty Room

Sad Chair

Sun and Circle

Flowers on the Door

"Post"

Moldy

Seriously, Don't Go In

Bleached Bones

Paris Service

Some Party

The Cheapskate's Answer to Window Boards

What Office?

Pano 2

Sign of the Times

Running Out of Names

Weird Light

Bonus: Cliche for a Reason

Luckily, I did not end up getting caught and questioned by an angry pissing trucker

Im enjoying the pastel colors too! Your shots of ` Another Dirty Room and Sad Chair, have some awesome lighting. Sun and Circle is kind of artsy and a keeper. Your last shot feels very calming...like it!

Cool find! This feels like something you'd see on old Route 66 (a favorite route of mine when I make it that far north).

Don't think it was Route 66, but the Colorado/Utah area, so close enough. That trip was full of nice surprises, rural stuff that I don't get to see much of living in the city.

I got to drive out to Park City, UT (which included crossing the entire state of Colorado) from Dallas, Texas last August, and I had a blast. I only wish I could have taken even more time than I did for the actual getting from point A to point B part (Sooo many ghost towns and MINES! Not to mention, a couple must-sees that I could have easily spent two days or more checking out if I'd had the time. It's a very different experience heading out West as opposed to the East. I feel like I live right smack in the middle/limbo region that separates these two fascinating continental sections. I'm less familiar with the Eastern region, but I hope that can change in the near future.
