As soon as this place came to my attention through a friend posting some photos a week or so before the trip I knew it would be right at the top of the list for the weekend. He warned me that to get to the buildings required some serious leg work and he wasn't wrong - to arrive at the closest buildings requires a calf-breaking, back-aching hike up the quarry which takes around 30-45 minutes depending on your pace and how many times you stop for a break. It's not one for the faint of heart but by the time we arrived at the old cutting sheds we realised it was totally worth it.

You'd think it'd be more easy going down but it's not, the severe gradient of the slopes really takes it out on your knees and calves just as badly as it does going up.

This place is wonderful and I need to get back there because there is a lot we didn't see both above ground and underground, as time began running away from us and we had more stuff to explore before the long drive home.

Excellent!
Old school shit
Shaft/belt power distribution.
Last I saw that was at the now defunked Phoenixville Steel.
Driven by huge open armature electric motors.
Were these steam driven?

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
