I dreamed that I found a tunnel under my bed and all of the Smurfs lived in a secret, fully stocked supermarket down there. I was so disappointed to wake up and realize the tunnel didn't exist. I still feel a twinge of disappointment when I think about it.

For my part, I always knew that urban exploration and me it went back far. But, I have never been able to remember what was my first exploration until a few days ago. I woke up and remembered it. I knew it was not part of my dream, because I remembered pretty much everything. My first exploration dates back to years before I knew the word urbex and still what it is. One night there was a fire. I do not really know what happened, but nobody has taken over the apartments. I passed in front of since a few weeks and once, it piqued my curiosity. I decided to go see why there was wood everywhere. I was not even teenager it seems to me when I ventured inside. Everything had been burned and there was glass on the floor. I do not remember if I was alone or not.

PS1: I remember going through the back door. She was open.
PS2: The apartment block has been rebuilt.

I dream about my explorations or what I would like to explore or do. For example, helping to bring life back to a place, but I never remember everything. I wish I could capture these moments so that they become real. Finally, for some of them.

Sometimes I dream that I discover a new room or hallway in my house. It's very House of Leaves.

I did something similar as a child. I realized there had to be an unused space between rooms in my parents house, where less than half was a water heater closet but what was behind it.

I actually did have a dream about an opening and set about measuring the walls to prove there was a void between 2 rooms an exterior wall and the back of the hot water hearer closet.

To this day I never knew, future owners might explore it someday I reckon.

I was pre-school age about 6yo.

Maybe she's born with it. Maybe it's methamphetamine.

The very first time I urbexed was on an island with an abandoned cabin when I was 10. I specifically remember having a dream a week or two later that I was back on the island but there was a whole entire section of the island that I didn't know was there or could never get to because of the thickness of the bushes. I was able to jump really high. Crazy stuff.

Found another one in Il Draino #64 (Nov '98).

This one was one of mine.

Drain Dreams.
I recently had a dream that I was going along a road that, although I'd never seen it before, I knew was out Eltham way. There was a wide shallow creek running along beside the road and I thought I saw what looks like a side creek leading to the road. I climbed down to the creek and saw two drains about a hundred meters apart from each other. The first was a brand spanking new looking two meter RCP which I fairly much ignored. The second was an old two meter round red-brick tunnel where the walls had collapsed in sections forcing anyone walking through the tunnel to climb over some sections and crawl under others. It didn't look very safe and I had a bad feeling. It was more of a nightmare than a dream.

Before I had the chance to go in the tunnel I heard voices coming from up the tunnel followed shortly by torch lights. "Hey!” I called out, "Who's there?" returned the voice up the tunnel. I waited a few minutes for the people to come out. In the last 14 years, I have met hundreds of people in drains and they've all been fairly friendly so I wasn't worried however I still had this eerie feeling.

Finally the people came out... they were very quick and I can't really remember what they looked like except that they wore black sheets and moved very quickly kind of like ghostly Ninjas. Three or four of these things were now flying around me and I was fairly worried. One of them leapt towards me and I reacted by throwing my leg up and somehow managed to kick the ghoul in the head and it fell down wailing in agony. The others attacked and although I was still shitting myself, I had the spirit of Bruce Lee in me. I was doing all kind of "hiya!” cries and doing that stance from The Karate Kid. I remember that the figures couldn’t touch me. I was just spinning around and toll-chocking these Ninja Phantoms as soon as they got anywhere near me.

I suddenly woke up in a cold sweat in my dark bedroom staring into the dark. I was frozen with fear. I slowly reached for my bedside lamp with my right hand expecting to turn the light on and see a group of these Ninjas. Needless to say I turned the light on and there was nothing unusual. One thing worth pointing out is that I'm not a martial arts fan at all. So any Ninja Ghouls reading this LOOK OUT? Dougo

I sometimes have exploring dreams, not often though. My most memorable one involved a huge cavernous industrial space with an entire eco-system of trees and plants and animals in it.

A great deal of my dreams involve a space similar to what you describe. Usually it's still developing, going from a filthy infrastructure tunnel that's off limits and still being dug out, to a utopian underground space with parkland for people to enjoy, all over the course of one dream.

I dream about the Bakelite factory in Belleville, Ontario (gone since '05) and the Regal Constellation Hotel (Gone since 2011), almost on a weekly basis.

Its really cool to see this thread still alive after all these years. I can't say I've had any recent exploring dreams, but I have really enjoyed catching up and reading everyone elses!
