Was poking around in a favorite area, and found some tunnels I'd heard of but never been in. Was a good day!

Looks a little tight. I don't do tight spaces very well.

Cool finds. Did they all connect or keep going?

They all connected via smaller crawl/crouch tunnels, and there were maybe 4-5 distinct larger tail races that intertwined some as well

Man the tunnel in the first picture would definitely give me a little claustrophobia but overall looks pretty cool! I love stumbling on cool finds like that

And that was were it opened up, there was ~100 feet of belly crawling before that! I was very glad I don't get too claustrophobic on this one

Lovin' those dinky little metal poles, like those would do anything if the ceiling fell down. Part of it looks like it was a subway or something; any idea what this was for?

Those horseshoe columns used to hold up the ceiling though after moisture damage and just time in general the ceiling chipped away bit by bit and now they dont really support anything.

The large tunnels were tailraces for a mill, where water would be discharged after being used in milling. Similar tunnels are found under a certain hydroelectric plant in the area as well. The smaller tunnels (running between the large ones) looked like they carried pipes or something similar at one point, and also ran to the mills. Definitely weren't meant to be moved through by people, as evidenced by all the crawling and tight spaces
