As I (re)learned on a recent road trip, the West is full of wonderful abandoned stuff! I hadn't been to this part of the country in a long time, and I really enjoyed it and probably have more locations coming up sometime after this. I actually busted out my old MacBook Tank with lightroom to edit this time!
This particular place is one I stumbled across on a drive through the mountains in Colorado. There remarkably wasn't a single piece of graffiti, so it must not be a very well-known site.
From what we could figure out, it was some kind of work camp. It had been wired up with electricity and most shacks had full kitchens, but the plumbing was all outhouses. The land it was on was for sale, but I guess no one cared enough to tear it down before trying to sell it.
There was so much more that I didn't get to see, but unfortunately not everyone on the trip was keen on sticking their noses into old buildings, so I had to cut my exploration short. Oh well... next time?
