Sanatorium "Waldhaus" opened its doors in 1899 in the Harz mountains of Thuringia. It was extended a few times until the 30s of the 20th century and every new owner changed the name of the building: The city of Hamburg changed the name, which has just turned to "Kinderheilstätte Holstein" into "Hamburgische Kinderheilstätte". Located in the soviet occupation area after the war, the former sanatorium Waldhaus got nationalized and renamed into "Krankenhaus Lebenswende". Like most of the other health facilities in this town and even in this street, it was closed after the reunion of Germany in the nineties. Parts of the building have already collapsed and those responsible are planning the demolition to make room for new buildings.
