House under (de)construction

Today I went and poked around an old house in my neighborhood that had had a fire and been abandoned. It's marked for demolition but it looks like they haven't gotten here yet.

There was nothing very interesting inside it, but I used it as an opportunity to practice my (dubious) photography skills. Sadly, I did not get up to the second floor, as I did not trust my weight to the charred stairs. Better to be safe

The Busted-up Bungalow

A Little Blurry

Radiant Heat

Diagonal Steppies

Soft Focus / Bright Light

Starin' Up at the Ceiling Stains

All Broken Up

I know I'm not the best photographer: constructive criticism is appreciated, asshole-dom is not. Hope you enjoyed!

I'm digging the lighting and overall tone of that photo of the stairs

I too, like the idea of focusing on different types of lighting and angles. If you have access to Photoshop (GIMP if you don't), I'd suggest your next steps be enhancing them digitally, by enhancing your lighting and/or making some lighting corrections.

One day I got a good camera.

Are you sure it wasn't abandoned during construction? I can't believe someone would so meticulously strip the drywall off the wood frame without leaving a mess, especially considering the place is just going to be torn down. Or are most of the pictures in an unfinished basement?

Anyway, your pictures are more interesting than I would have expected given the subject. Worth remembering that all pictures are of lighting.

No, I live on the street next to it and I remember there being a fire. The house is way to old to still be under construction. I'm not sure why they were so careful demolishing it--There was a condemned sign on the front, but maybe they were keeping the frame and are just rebuilding the inside? There's a couple other houses like that nearby.

Rebuilding the inside could make sense.

Thank you!

I actually did make some very basic corrections on a simple editing program I have... you should have seen them before! I guess I'll have to bust out my ancient comatose MacBook to get at Photoshop now.

Anyway, your pictures are more interesting than I would have expected given the subject. Worth remembering that all pictures are of lighting.

Thanks--I'll take interesting!
