Is it really better to be caught inside of a building than in a construction zone? If you are caught in the latter you might be able to play the curiosity card especially if there's no fencing.

I guess both look bad but if you're inside a building I feel like there could be greater consequences.

I don't have much experience with climbing rooftops. The only roofs I've ever climbed were ones that could be accessed from the outside. Like a ladder on the side of a warehouse, or climbing up one of the storm drain things on the side of a school. As far as actually going into an active building and finding a roof hatch, I've never done that.

In my experience, absolutely. I know people that have been prosecuted for posting videos of themselves climbing construction sites. You're right, neither one of them are good. I've been caught on roofs by security before and my first response is always, "Sorry, I was looking for the bathroom and got lost" haha. Most of the time they are more concerned with the fact that their security team didn't catch you on the way up like they're supposed to.

Bare in mind your biggest hazard isn't security or being arrested; it's gravity.
It's laws are always applied.
Every footfall and handhold count... no or little margin for error.
Beware that anchor bolts can fail with no warning and in a chain reaction type failure. It's happen to people here including myself.

100% right. Your awareness has to be on super high alert. Knowing your limits is the best attribute you can have. Never ever do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. I know or know of too many people that have taken their last step on a roof, ledge, or beam.

Roof topping it always fun! I've only gone at night but I've been on all kinds of buildings schools restaurants malls etc and only been caught once.

So far i have only been doing active buildings during the day, i feel like that getting caught at night might be taken more seriously by security or police. Plus less people to blend in with at night.

Definitely a lot easier to get away with at night. But I wouldnt say its taken any more or less serious if caught depending on the time of day. What youre doing is illegal regardless of what time it is. There are certain things like bridges that i would never climb during the day. The risk of getting caught is already high. Plus you are out in the open most of the time.

Yea but on a roof during a day most people wont give you a second glance as they would likely assume you are doing something official. Plus it might be just me but at night i feel like when caught people associate you with more sinister things and therefore its harder to talk your way out of. I only go on roofs during the day and I have only even been told to leave, some security didn't even bother to escort me out.

People tend not to look up; a failing.
So on a building higher than the surrounding ones you have an edge.
However you stick out like a sore thumb if they do look... especially if it's a cop with some free time.

Yes at least in U.S.A, construction zones are special like schools and any offenses committed within them are multiplied. Mostly this is just carried out in the form of traffic tickets, but they don't fucks with trespassers/scrappers.

As blackhawk said, most people don't look up. Or look around. People in cars are focused on the road or their cellphone 90% of the time. Just don't stick out and people won't double take if they do happen to glance up. Remember, they aren't looking for anything abnormal.

Yep, I personally think that a jeans and plain t-shirt is a good thing to wear on these. Since if anyone happens to work their brains will justify it as such, or at least that is what i tell myself when i am on a roof

Blackhawk is on point. Nobody normally looks up. Ive been seen on roofs before, and have seen other rooftoppers at the same time on different buildings. Most people just give you the look of confusion and keep it moving. Ive gone as far as to dress in construction gear and walked right into a construction site with no questions asked. I know that was a once in a lifetime thing and dont ever plan on trying to get away with that one again haha
