Recently I've been learning a lot of online privacy and security.
During this time I discovered something called EXIF data or photo metadata.
This data is commonly inserted into pictures after they are taken with the
data varying from device to device. The data can include the GPS location
of the photo, shutter speed, ISO and much more. This data is often automatically
set to images as they are taken by the device. This means that without realizing it posting pictures to social media taken by certain devices can inadvertently give away your or the pictures location. Grabbing data is as simple as downloading the photo and going to a website such as
https://www.pic2map.com/ Preventing this from occurring is very simple. See this tutorial for more information
https://www.howtog...-how-to-remove-it/ Also your physical location is only a real problem for those who take pictures on their phone as DSLR cameras don't typically record location data.
So be careful when uploading images of locations if you don't want them to be found. Or at least remove the data before uploading. If anyone can easily access your pictures location you can easily imagine some issues that would arise.
