The final day of our road trip and Mrs. Ulcer agreed to a quick 30 minute detour so I could hit this spot on my Urbex Bucket List. I first learned of this location about 2 1/2 years ago after an article in the Houston Chronicle ran discussing the current state and possible plans to renovate it. After doing so digging and research into its history it became a "must see". I've passed nearby this place since then dozens of times and never seemed to have the time to explore it so I was thrilled when the Mrs. agreed to go.
When I arrived, she decided to stay in the car and let me do my thing. After walking around for about 15 minutes and meeting up with another explorer doing I entered what looked like the shower room. I was blown away! The tile on the floor was incredible - each piece individually laid. I had to show this to the wife.
I got to the car and told her she had to see this place and compared it to places we had seen in St. Lucia. She refused. I became insistent and she got pissed but agreed to go. Bitching and complaining the entire way in I began to think to myself, "Great. I should have just left her in the car. This is going to suck!". As we got in she was blown away! Before long she was crawling over walls, suggesting shots to take and even uttering things like, "Whats in here?". She was thrilled that I made her go but still pissed at the way I did it. Women - who the hell can figure 'em out!
